LONG POST ALERT PLEASE READ One of the challenges muslim women wearing head cover encounters is the ability to work in a corporate environment because the 'bosses' at the top thinks their hijab is not 'corporate compliant' especially in our dear country Nigeria. So many of us have been victims of this discrimination and while something o sisters had to let go of their hijabs for their dream jobs, I do not subscribe to that idea at all. As a law student at the Nigerian Law school and during my very brief practicing years, I dealt with this and so did many sisters. Many brilliant sisters left practice because of this and not because they are not good lawyers or they don't love the profession. Top companies in Nigeria such as the Big 4 are culprits of this acts of discrimination which they dare not do in countries like the UK; why then should we continue to be victims? The Nigerian Constitution in S.4 (38[1] & 39[1]) both established freedom of thought, conscience and Religion & freedom of expression respectively. Therefore, any company/school whose code of conduct go against these sections are in violation of the Nigerian law. Unfortunately, we have accepted the ill treatments for so long that we think it is ok to keep quiet and continue to be intimidated. Should we continue to keep mum while our intelligent sisters who has lots to offer continue to suffer in silence? Remember, not everyone can be an entrepreneur... Let the talking begin sisters! #mlhposts2017 #mlhrealtalk #discussion #sistersforum
