I'm on day 3 here in Kenya!

It's a bit overwhelming for me at the moment but I'm praying that within a week or so I will settle in. Lucy, my homestay mum here in Kenya, is very friendly and super helpful. She's been such a blessing. Also I'm super lucky that there's an Internet cafe just down the road from us. I'm excited to be here but I am a little homesick, again I am praying that this is just a short term side effect and will pass. Yesterday was my first day at the orphanage and it was very eye opening. For 2 days the kids have been without toilet paper and they were running low on coal so another girl, Rhea and I bought them coal that should last them for a week. They were so grateful because without it they said they may not have been able to supply dinner. They're living conditions made them extremely appreciative of mine! While there is no running water at Lucy's we have a place to sleep, food, a toilet, and a washroom. Whereas the children there use a slab of concrete with a door for a bathroom, share washrooms that are too just slabs of concrete and are constantly running low on necessary survival items. There are 42 of them and not one of them has a pillow for there bed. Many of them are not in school because they cannot afford the fees and there is one boy who suffers from AIDs. Despite these conditions they are happy and grateful to have us there. I'd be appreciative of any prayers for me and for Liberty orphanage. God bless.
