An AU where deities (Alicorns, Draconequis) don’t take a specific shape, not one mortals can comprehend anyway. They live in their temples of worship, preferring to remain unseen by mortals, preferring to stay out of mortal affairs. Some deities were always deities, some became deities through merit, some chose the life for the greater good, and some were mortals flying too close to the sun and became bound to the magic they were meddling with. You think being a God is this all powerful position over others? You are a fool. You are merely a cog in the machine of this universe to keep it running. You are the caretaker of your charge, an endless thankless task. Gods are chained to their domains, this is a blessing for mortals, a curse for them. You have been chosen for such an important role! Aren’t you honored, I’m sorry it has to be you.

Discord and the Tree of Harmony- always have been deities. Twin deities of chaos and order. Discord is one of the only deities to actually regularly leave their temple. He enjoys looking for chaos in mortals, their brand of chaos is always so fascinating to see. He still stays out of sight and hidden.
Celestia and Luna- became deities for the greater good. Nightmare Moon technically still exists, but is not evil per se. The nightmare moon event never happened. So this universes version of Nightmare Moon is a Demi deity chosen by Luna to help in tending the dream realm. Celestia and Luna share a temple. Twin Goddesses of the day and night
Demi deities- chosen by full deities to help them with their domains, or be their voice in the mortal world.
The Main Six- Demi deities chosen by Harmony
Discords Demi deities?- he’s been thinking of taking some one in for a long time. Recently there’s these three little kids that love causing chaos near his and harmonies temple. Crusaders they call themselves, how fun their games are! He makes sure they are safe while near his temple.
Cadence- ascended to godhood through merit. Goddess of Love
Shining Armor- Demi deity for Cadence, her voice now that she’s a deity. Was/is her husband before everything happened. Is also the only other one to fully understand the magic Cadence was studying. One of the strongest Demi deities due to how strong his connection is to his deity.
Starlight Glimmer- flew too close to the sun when using time magic. Ascending (becoming chained to) into the deity of time. Perhaps you could see it as merit?
Sombra- was once a scholar under Luna’s side of the temple, his ambitions became twisted however. He believed he could become something greater. He thought he could force ascension. He drove himself to madness instead.
Sunset Shimmer- Celestias Demi deity. She is her voice outside the temple. She is very old, having known Celestia before she became the sun goddess. Her sister is “nightmare moon” Luna’s Demi deity, her actual name being Star Dust. Sunset Shimmer and Star Dust were childhood friends of Celestia and Luna.
