Y/n felt around blindly at hearing her phone ring. She answers it , before she can say anything a voice comes out.“Y/n!! It’s 6:40! We have to be off this boat and meet the group in 20 minutes!!.”, F/n yelled at her. Y/n eyes went wide as she quickly looked around for her clothes. The dress was in shreds on the floor, causing her to huff. She spotted his dress shirt laying close by. Putting her underwear and bra back on she quickly puts his shirt on. Grateful that it covered her butt. Rushing she looked outside making sure no one was around and ran to the elevator to her floor. Making sure no one was around again she rushed to her room banging on the door. As soon as F/n opened it , y/n pushed past her going straight to her suitcase. Throwing on Some leggings and a shirt. She rushed around grabbing the stuff she needed and she and F/n rushed out the door. In the elevator she wiped the old makeup off and just put on some mascara. As well as fixed her hair while F/n held her phone on the front camera for her. Once they got off the boat and to the meeting spot they had everything organized. It was 6:57 by the time they got there and lucky for them they weren’t the last ones. As they waited for the last two people they were waiting on, Y/n pulled her phone out and plugged it in to her portable charger. She sent Sebastian a quick text saying a sorry that she had to rush out cause she overslept. As she was typing she felt eyes on her. She looked up to see F/n staring at her as if she was waiting for something. “What?”, Y/n asked her to put her phone away. “Don’t ‘what?’ me! Come on details!”, F/n says begging her. “There are no details! We just went to the party, danced , talked about some things and then went back to his room.”, Y/n says rolling her eyes at her friend. “Oh come on Y/n! This is the second time you spent with him! I need to know that my girl is getting a good dick!”, F/n says kind of loudly. Y/n’s eyes went wide as she slapped her hand over F/n’s mouth. “Okay damn! If you are more quiet so not everyone knows my business you can ask one question. JUST ONE!.”, Y/n says scolding her. F/n nodded agreeing. “What’s he like? Rough and freaky or soft and lovey?”, F/n asked. Y/n rolled her eyes, but before she could reply the teacher started talking about following their guide to their first sight. “ All I will say is I may or may not have bite marks on my ass and hand print bruises on my hips.”, Y/n says before following the group. Leaving behind a stunt friend with her mouth hung open.
A couple hours later, when the group was taking a rest , Sebastian texted her back. Saying he understood and would see her tomorrow, knowing that by the time she got back she would probably be too tired to think of anything but a bed.
Sebastian puts his phone away after texting and walked out as the elevator doors open. Heading off the boat and to the car waiting for him. Chris followed close behind and climbed in the car with him. He looked over at his boss and one of his best friends. “What?”, Sebastian says feeling his eyes on him. “Does she know?”, Chris asked. Even though he didn’t say her name they both knew who he was talking about. “Yeah. She told me last night, she knew the whole time. But she wasn’t once scared by me.”, Sebastian said looking down at his hands and played with the rings on his fingers. “You know past this trip it can’t be more. Or you will put her in danger of Brock.”, Chris says. “I know. I just...Did your parents ever talk to you about soul mates? Cause my ma did. She would say that there was someone out there for everyone. Someone who made you feel like no other. That when you meet them , even if you didn’t really know them you get these strong feelings for them. I use to think it was all crap. Just a fairy tale to tell people to make themselves feel better for dating trash people. But then she showed up in my life. At first I thought she was just another pretty face. Just someone to fill the hole of loneliness for a night. But then the next morning seeing her laying on the bed and seeing when I got up how she whined and made grabbing hands for me even in sleep, it sent something off in me. Something that made me just want to keep her in my arms and close. This is Fucking crazy I just meet her a few days ago. But she makes me feel human again after all I have done and grew up in. Last night when we talked about it. Even with her knowing what i have done and can do. She even saw the gun I had. All that and she stayed wrapped in my arms, head on my shoulder, relaxed. And when she looked at me her eyes where full of trust. I just never felt something like this before. I don’t know what to do anymore.”, Sebastian goes on ranting. He leans his head back on the seat closing his eyes thinking. Chris sat next to him smirking. “ Sounds like soulmates to me.”, he says laughing. Sebastian's eyes snapped open and shot him a glare. “On a serious note you have about 2 more weeks with her , then you have to decide what's best for HER.”, Chris says. “Yeah but I’ll get less time because at the next island we are staying for almost a week so she will be busy with her group.”, Sebastian pouts. “You never listen or pay attention. The captain made an announcement. Something happens with the next island and we won't be able to land. So starting tomorrow when we leave you have 2 weeks with her. I doubt the group will do anything. “, Chris tells him, rolling his eyes at his boss. This made Sebastian perk up thinking about getting her almost completely to himself for 2 weeks.
Hours later
Y/n and F/n sigh as they wait for an elevator. Everyone else in the group got to them before them. They both just wanted to get to the room and shower then hit the bed. It was a long day of hiking around the jungle in the humid hot weather. They let out a sigh of relief when the elevator dinged and the doors opened. They walked in and clasped against the wall of the elevator. Y/n closed her eyes leaning her head back. She didn’t even peak them open when F/n left out a small whine when someone stopped the doors before they closed and walked in. As the doors finally shut Y/n groaned as F/n kept jabbing at her. “F/n I don’t have the energy to deal with your shit tonight.”, she groaned slapping at F/n. She didn’t even think about it when she heard two deep chuckles. F/n kept jabbing her. Y/n ignored her as she laid her head on F/n’s shoulder. “F/n, Can you carry me back to the room?”, Y/n ask. “No. But why don’t you ask him?”, F/n says moving her shoulder makes Y/n sit up. Y/n finally opens her eyes only to close then again meeting that smirk that makes her melt. “Oh fuck me.”, Y/n groaned. “Hasn’t he already twice? And hard from what you told me about the brui-”, F/n says but is cut off by Y/n slapping her hand over her mouth. Chris chokes on a laugh as a light blush goes over Sebastian's face. Lucky the elevator doors open the Y/n and F/n’s floor. “Oh look at that, it's our floor!”, Y/n says, grabbing F/n and rushing out of the elevator and down the hall. “ I can’t believe you!”, Y/n says opening the door to their room. F/n was laughing her ass off. Y/n glared at her as she grabbed her clothes to shower. “Hey! I’m first!”, F/n says. “Well this is payback for what you just did!”, Y/n says rushing to the bathroom wanting to wash off the embarrassment she feels after what just happened. After a long nice shower she got dressed and went straight to her bed as F/n went to shower. She looked at her phone to see she had a text from Sebastian.
Seby: So you have been talking about me?;)
Babygirl: Shut it!
Y/n wanted to stay up a bit and talk to him , but her brain had other ideas as her eyes grew heavy and shut. What felt like only a second , by actually a couple hours, Y/n woke tossing and turning trying to slip back into sleep. She looked at the time to see it was only 11 pm. Groaning Y/n got up and made her way out of her room waiting some fresh air. She went to the top deck and leaned against the railing. She watched the stars that released off of the water. She suddenly felt a present standing leaning next to her. Y/n smiled lightly making out the figure in her side gaze. “Are you stalking me?”, She ask joking. He lets out a small laugh. “No, I couldn’t sleep and just wanted to clear my mind but I got lucky to find you here, baby girl.”, Sebastian says moving over so their shoulders were touching. Y/n just nodded not saying anything as she stared out. Sebastian turned looking at her seeing the same look of her face she had at the party. “Penny for your thoughts?”, Sebastian ask softly as he reaches out and tucks a piece of hair behind her hair. Y/n weakly smiled but couldn’t find the right words to say. Sebastian frowned softly looking at her. “How about this? I tell you why I can’t sleep and then you tell me why you can’t”, Sebastian says. Y/n turned to look at him and nodded agreeing. He sighed as he turned to look out to the sea again. “ Too many thoughts running through my mind. Just not letting me sleep. The main thing is you. Each time I see you i get all these feeling. Things I’m new to. And being with you is great , even though it’s only been a few days. But I can’t help the small voice in the back of my head telling me to leave you alone. That I’m putting you in danger. But also a voice yelling to be selfish and keep you near even if I have to protect you 24/7. I have 2 weeks to figure out whats best for you. And I just don’t know what to do.”, Sebastian says softly. All these emotions that he normally kept buried deep down just come out. All because of her. And he can’t tell if that’s a bad thing or a good thing. Y/n stared at him not knowing what to say. He basically had the same thoughts that she has been battling these last few days. She wraps her arms around his arm and rests her head on his shoulder. “Even if I had to be locked in a house surrounded by armed men, I would be happy as long as you were there.”, She says into his shoulder. He laughs softly wishing it was that easy. He straightened a bite and rested his head on hers kissing her forehead. “Now why are you awake baby girl?”, he asked softly into her hair. Y/n closed her eyes taking a deep breath. “ I have actually never done anything like this. Sleep with a guy I barely know. Go to place and all that stuff. Hell I’ve never been confident to really talk to anyone that way. Especially After my ex. We met in high school and dated till about a year and half ago. He was abusive. Not in the hitting way but he would say the most awful things to me. Bout my weight , how I looked, dressed , and ate. Almost everything he hated about me he made sure to point it out and to point out girls who I should look like. I was able to finally come to my senses and dump his ass. But since then I have issues with my look. I try to not let it affect me but it’s hard sometimes to stay out of that mind space. Till I meet you. In one night of not even knowing me , you made me feel beautiful. Made me feel good about myself. Especially in that dress the other night. That was the first time I ever felt so beautiful and was shown off. No one ever made me feel like that , Not even myself could. But there is a small fear in the back of my head. That if this goes on past this trip , it will end shortly. I’m not like those girls that throw themselves at you. I’m not like that ex I meet at the party. Not a super skinny , gorgeous model that you're probably used to. And I know that one day you’ll realize that.”. “Baby girl , that’s why I like you so much. Cause your right your not like them. Your so much better then all the models in the world combined. 1. Cause your 10 times more beautiful then any of them , naturally. And 2 . do you even know how fucking boring they are? No personality ..i’m not even sure some have a brain.”, Sebastian says turning to her. This made y/n let out a little laugh through some tears that fell down her face. Seb smiled softly at the sound. He reached out, turning her to face him while he wipes her face clean. “You’ve made me feel things no one else ever has. You made me feel a true happiness I haven’t felt in years , after taking over. Feel human again not like the monster I feel like because of all this. And if for a second you think I’m letting you get away now , then you better start thinking again. Cause your stuck with me now.”. Y/n let out another laugh looking up at him. Seb smiles seeing her smile again. He pulls her in kissing her. The softest , most passionate kiss either ever had. Pulling back after a few minutes, “Come on baby girl let’s get you to bed.”. Y/n just nodded, taking Seb’s hand and wrapping around his arm as he led her back to his room.
When they got to his room they curled into each other on the bed. Just laying there with Sebs arms wrapped around Y/n and her head rested on his chest listening to his heart beat. This was new to Sebastian; he never cuddled / held someone like this before. But he liked it , at least with her he did. “You're not a monster. You're human no matter what you do. You have your reasons , even if no one else can understand that. It doesn’t mean you're a monster. At less not in my eyes your not.”, Y/n says softly into his chest. Seb could feel this heart swell at her words, falling even further for her. “Thank you.”, he whispers in her hair as he kisses her.
So sorry It took so long, I’m kind of stuck where I want this to go and especially this part I feel like is so bad! I’m sorry the next will be better!- MM

Two weeks.
It has been two weeks since that night that changed everything. Sebastian was no longer overthinking why you haven’t called. He was plainly angry and it never occurred to him that his anger was the product of how much he was hurting. You weren’t meant to affect him this much and he hated how angry he was all the time. He always prided himself in having the ability to remain objective and neutral during the worst of times. But you somehow managed to change all of this.
He wasn’t the only one that noticed this. His best friend, even his rather dull men, noticed this shift. Sebastian cracked one night when the asshole came by and told him he knew he was in his part of the neighborhood. Everyone was surprised to say the least. Sebastian never broke his word to anyone, even when it was his enemies. He had aggressively told him he should know his men better. There was honor among thieves and all that. A fight almost broke out when Sebastian decided to tell his rival he should not steal from the poor and had it not been for his most trustworthy and intelligent man, someone would have died that night. So when everyone calmed down and left, Sebastian couldn’t hold back, telling his friend what happened that night and how he was dumb enough to think that she might call.
“And you didn’t get her name?”
“Would I be in this fuckin’ problem if I did Chris? No, I don’t think so. Besides, even if I did, I can’t go back there. You’ve seen what almost happened tonight. I can’t afford to start another war when we just ended the last one.” Sebastian downed the rest of his drink, growling before he pretended to do something on his phone.
“I’m only asking because you’re obviously affected by this.”
“Well maybe you need to keep your fucking thoughts to yourself. Thought about that?” Sebastian yelled at his friend, immediately regretting how he began to lose control of himself. Never in his life did he think he would get to this point because of a woman. He’d never once spoken to Christ like this and he regretted it immediately. Before he could apologize, Chris was walking out, shutting the door behind him and telling his men to not go anywhere near the boss.
“FuCK!”
Why haven't you called? Why didn’t you come around and ask for him? Were you really that terrified of him? He thought you were different, that you could see through this tough act. He gave you so many incentives to get in touch with him. You needed money and he had it. Surely you would have at least come after him for more? No one in need would be able to deny such an opportunity.
Unbeknownst to him, Chris was already looking up the phone number of the diner you worked at. He vaguely remembered what Sebastian said about your attire and there was only one place in your area that resembled a diner. He made a few calls, knowing very well his boss was most likely going to shoot him when he found out what he’d just done. He left the bar soon after, knowing he shouldn’t be around when his plan worked out.
On the other side of town, you were chatting up one of the regulars, laughing at something the old woman said about her husband. When your boss called out to you so you could have a break, you told them the other waitress was going to finish up with them. Taking off the dirty apron, you sat in the lounge and ate your lunch, trying your hardest not to think about Sebastian or how safe you felt around him. You shouldn’t have these thoughts about a complete stranger. He was obviously a dangerous man. But he didn’t seem like he’d purposely hurt anyone innocent.
But god damn it he was dangerous. It oozed off of him like lava out of a volcano. Maybe that was part of why you were so attracted to him. But nothing good ever came from these kinds of men.
So busy daydreaming, you didn’t notice your boss walking in and sitting down in front of you.
“Huh sorry Sam, I didn’t catch that?” You cleaned up after yourself and turned to him.
“So here’s the thing Y/N. I don’t know how to tell you this but-” Your heart sank immediately, knowing where this was going to go.
“You’re letting me go aren’t you?” You cut him off, surprised by how unhurt you felt by this. When he didn’t respond, you walked towards him and sat down, taking his hands and rubbing them. “It’s alright Sam, don’t you worry about me. I’m a tough girl, I can find another job.” You smiled up at him before getting up and taking off name tag and keys to the diner.
“Listen, I made a few calls and I found this place you could work at. They’ve been looking for a waitress who knows her shit and I recommended you. Told them you do well under pressure and you’re an honest and responsible woman. I’ve got the address here. It’s good pay too, a lot more than what I could’ve ever paid you. ” He took out a small note and gave it to you, and you couldn’t help but smile at him.
“You’re always looking out for me Sam. I don’t know how I’ll ever repay your kindness.” You looked at the address and noticed how far it is. But you could take the bus. The pay was more anyway.
“You call me letting you go “kindness”?”
“Other bosses wouldn’t have cared or called their friends to find me a job.” You noticed his expression fall but you said nothing. “See you around Sam.” You waved at him and walked out, afraid the tears would break through and you really didn’t want him to feel like shit.
As you made your way back to your apartment, you couldn’t help but get this feeling about the address in your pocket.
Hell’s Kitchen.
That was a whole other world. A different class of people. You knew the pay was definitely going to be better, and that was excluding the tips. You’ve had a friend tell you how often and generously she was tipped.
“Just get through tonight and you’ll be good. Things are looking up after all and you didn’t even use his money.” You whispered to yourself as you looked for a nice outfit to wear.
And then you remembered where Sebastian’s bar was. You asked the guy at the market a few days ago and he told you it was in Hell’s Kitchen. Maybe this was a sign for you to return his things? Taking a deep breath, you decided to leave a bit early so you could go and return his things. Well, maybe not all of them. He wouldn’t need the coat.
The entire bus ride there, you weren’t sure if you looked decent enough to see him. Wait, why did it matter how you looked? You weren’t going for anything else apart from returning his things. The purpose of tonight was to look presentable, confident, and diligent for the job, and nothing else. Definitely nothing else.
Or so you thought.
You readjusted your dress for the tenth time that night and as you made your way through the streets, you smiled at how different this side of the city was. There were more people in every corner you looked, some laughing, some yelling, and some just minding their own business and living.
“Excuse me, can you help me find this bar?” You walked up to one of the newspaper stands and asked an old man sitting down with his legs crossed, thanking him when he told you to continue walking and make a left at the end of the street.
A few minutes passed, and you realized you were walking faster than usual. Even your body reacted to knowing you were near him and you would think about that later, not now. Not when you were about to meet him. Right now, you just needed to give him his things and leave to make it in time for your interview.
When you finally turned around the corner, you halted in your steps and gasped. The bar was definitely not a bar. It looked like an entire fucking hotel. Even the name of the bar was at least one story high. But that wasn’t the problem. Far from it.
The problem was the fact that the street name and address of the bar were the same as the one Sam gave you. Was this some kind of joke? You didn’t know what to do other than walk towards the entrance and talk to the men standing there.
As you approached, one of the men stretched his hand out and stopped you.
“H-hi, I umm, my boss, well ex-boss, told me there is a waitress wanted here? I’m...I’m here for...f-for the interview, if there is an interview.” You stammered through the sentence, hoping that one of them would have an idea of what you were talking about. You were about to apologize when they stepped aside and one of them went ahead of you and led you inside. You thanked the other man and he nodded at you before shutting the door after you entered.
It was such a different atmosphere inside. There wasn’t a single seat open and there was a jazz band on the stage and my god was the singer pretty.
“You here for the job opening?” A man came out of nowhere and you jumped at how loud he was, nodding and telling him about your boss Sam and what he told you. You thought you a shift in his facial expression but you didn’t question him, smiling when he led you towards the back to his office.
As you entered, he shut the door behind him and you suddenly felt uneasy.
“A-are you the owner of this bar?”
“Hah no no, I’m just the guy running it while the boss is away. I’m Anthony by the way.” He crossed his legs and continued to stare at you.
“Oh so, the- the boss is not here today. I can come back another day. I’m sorry I didn’t call ahead or ask or set an appointment or ever ask for one. God I-” Panic filled your lungs and you felt the room getting hotter at the prospect of getting kicked out before the interview.
“Hey hey relax, you’re alright. I know this is probably a lot for you, seeing this establishment and how much bigger it is than where you used to work.” He tried to reassure you but you were afraid of what his words implied.
“How did you know where I worked?”
“Well, you were suggested by Sam. You are the waitress he spoke of right? Not someone else trying to take the job?” He leaned forward and you shook your head instantly.
“No no I swear it’s me. Sorry I just, it’s been a while since I did this and I’m not really sure how these things go when it’s a packed place.”
“Okay, here’s the thing. Normally, I talk to you, then Chris who’s my boss, talks to you to make sure you’re fit for us. Then the big boss sits down because he tends to read people better than most.” When you said nothing, Anthony continued to talk.
“But you’re a special case. So the good news is, you won’t need to talk to Chris or anyone else. Just me. Are you feeling alright?”
“Y-yes sir.”
“None of that, just call me Tony. Now, I only have a few questions for you and the job is yours. You do well under pressure?”
“Yes sir- sorry, I mean Tony. Yes Tony. I’ve worked in different environments and bars and diners and I assure you I’m very good at my job.” You sat at the edge of your seat and maintained eye contact with him.
“Good. Are you on any types of drugs? Perhaps an alcoholic?”
“No never. My mama raised me better than that. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, I just don’t prefer either.” You prided yourself in how your voice never faltered when you spoke to him.
“And lastly, you think you’ll do alright working a twelve hour shift, maybe more depending on how many customers we have?”
“Yes. But-”
“Yes?” Tony asked and you didn’t want to already start a problem.
“Well I, I live on the other side of town and if I’m working late into the night, I am afraid of making it back to my place by myself. It’s an hour on the bus.”
“Then you need to move down here.”
“I...umm, I’ll try.”
“You’ll try? Do you not want this job?”
“Sir I am so sorry I really do want the job I swear. I just- I have no money and I have an arrangement with the owner of my building and I don’t think I’ll be able to afford anything on this side of town.”
“How much were you getting paid?” When he saw how reluctant you were in responding, he reassured you Sam wouldn’t get in trouble.
“The most I was ever paid was nine an hour.” You whispered to him and blinked in surprise when at his response.
“Well fuck!” Tony was quiet for a bit before he took a deep breath before he spoke to you again.
“Alright, how about this, I will keep you on a twelve hour shift and you come by at seven every morning. Once you have enough money, you can move down here and we’ll up your hours. Sounds good?”
“With all due respect sir, I don’t know how much you’ll pay me so I don’t know if I can afford an apartment down here.”
“You’ll start at twenty and hour, and if you’re as good as you say, we’ll make it thirty. You alright with that?” Tony couldn’t hold back the smile when your eyes almost fell out of their sockets when he told you the numbers.
“Yes sir. Yes that’s more than enough, thank you sir.”
“Please, it’s Tony. Practice it. Just Tony. And the job is yours.” He stood up and you almost fell over when you tried to stand uo to shake his hands, the smile never leaving your face. Tony was heading to the door and lead you out when it was pushed open aggressively.
You jumped in your place and almost dropped your things when you saw who just walked in.
“Where the hell is Chris? I ask everyone and they tell me he just up and left when we have a deal to c-” The words died in his throat when he looked part Tony and saw who was standing behind him.
Time stood still and your heart skipped a beat when you looked at him. You could tell he was as taken aback by your presence as you were by his. But the moment faded away when he spoke again, leaving a hollow place in your heart that quickly filled with hurt.
“What the fuck is she doing here?” He spat at Tony and you could tell that Tony didn’t expect Sebastian to know who you were.
“Just hired her for a job.” Tony said, unphased by how he was being spoken to.
“Who the fuck told you to do that?” Sebastian put his hands in his pockets and you couldn’t help but admire how lean he looked when he wasn't wearing a million layers.
“Well, Chris told me to-”
“I’m gonna fuckin’ kill that son of a bitch when he gets here.” He focused on you again, watching your expression fall with every violent word that came out of his mouth. Without saying anything else, he left.
Tony turned to you and raised an eyebrow before telling you that you still had the job.
“You start tomorrow alright? Be here at seven sharp.” He was about to lead you away when you stopped him and asked for a favor.
“I...I know this is random and weird and please don’t ask me what happened because based on that reaction, I’m probably in no place to speak. But could you possibly give these to him?” You went through your bag and brought out the money and the watch you wrapped in newspapers. “These belong to him and I have been meaning to return them to him when he left them at- well, it doesn’t matter. They belong to him. And I don’t think he’ll want to see me right now.”
Tony looked down and nodded, taking the things from you and telling you to not worry about him.
“I’m really sorry Y/N. He isn’t normally like that, trust me. I’ve worked with him for decades.”
You almost told him you knew what he meant but you chose against it, deciding to just nod at him and leave.
You almost cried on the bus on your way back but you held yourself until you were in the safety of your home, throwing yourself on the bed and crying yourself to sleep as you covered yourself with his coat. You should have been happy, ecstatic, fucking thankful because of the chance of a lifetime.
But it hurt knowing how much you weren’t wanted there. You’d ripped up the note he gave you weeks ago, knowing he didn’t mean anything he wrote down and that it was a good decision to never take him up on the offer.
Hours later, Tony knocked on Sebastian’s door and walked in without waiting for an answer, already knowing he was going to be yelled at or worse.
“The fuck you want? And where is Chris?”
“He ain’t coming around tonight. Here, Y/L/N wanted me to give this to you.”
“Who the fuck is Y/L/N?”
“The poor girl you yelled and swore at for not fucking reason other than having a stick up your ass.” Tony said, knowing he was probably crossing a line with Sebastian but it was something he definitely needed to hear. Sebastian almost lost his temper but he somehow remained calm, grabbing the object out of Tony’s hand before telling him to leave.
As he sat down and ripped the newspapers, his eyes widened, not sure out of surprise or horror.
There they were, all the money and the watch he left. Not one dollar was messing.
“FUCK!” He swore, slamming the watch against the wall before leaning backward on his chair.
You were nothing like he expected.
As he reevaluated his actions, he couldn’t help but notice that a few things were off. She returned the four grand, and the watch. But where was his coat? And more importantly, what the fuck was he going to say to her when she started her shift?

April 2016
"Sebastian, I love you! I can’t stop loving you!" I was shouting across the room at my boyfriend. Another night we’d spent together, another fight. He looked at me, biting his lip. I couldn’t tell if he was swallowing his words because he knew how much each one would hurt me—or because he didn’t want to waste another breath on me.
This night was supposed to be perfect for both of us. We were at the premiere of Captain America: Civil War. We were at the peak of our relationship. Everything was supposed to be perfect.
Or so I thought.
Sebastian stopped biting his lip and laughed. "Then can you stop acting so crazy for me?!" he yelled. "If you love me that much, then trust me! You don’t pick a fight in front of my friends. Especially not over some redhead I’ve never even met!"
His words, his voice—it all stabbed through me. I could feel my lower lip trembling. There had only been a few moments in my life when I’d felt this small. And this was one of them. Something was slipping, and I couldn’t catch it.
"I’m sorry," I finally whispered, finding my voice.
Sebastian shook his head. His eyes were brighter than ever. I could see the storm coming.
"No. This was the last time." He ran his hands through his hair, pacing back and forth. Was he trying to convince himself? Or was he really done?
My brows furrowed as I repeated his words in my head.
Last time?
"What does that mean?" I asked, eyes locked on his blues. They used to pull me in like the ocean, but now there was no safety in them. My anchor had become a storm. I was drowning in his stare.
"We can’t keep doing this." His hands hovered in the space between us.
"What? You’re just going to leave me like this?"
"Because I’m twenty-one and you’re thirty-two? You’re seriously using age now?! Are you ashamed of me?!" My voice had become a scream.
Sebastian raised his hands. "There it is! You screaming for no reason! Maybe it IS the age thing! Maybe you haven’t grown up yet! THE WORLD DOESN’T REVOLVE AROUND YOU, NORA!"
"I— I never said it did!" I was sobbing now.
Sebastian stepped closer, closing the distance. His icy blues locked on mine, our faces inches apart. The way his eyes held me—I felt like I was going to shatter. "You’re unbelievable," he spat. I watched as he grabbed his keys. I couldn’t stop crying. Even through blurred vision, I didn’t blink once. I couldn’t look away from him.
"Where are you going?" I asked, finally able to speak.
Sebastian sighed. "It’s over, Nora. I can’t do this with you anymore. I’m done."
I stood frozen, watching him stumble out of the hotel room and slam the door. I didn’t say a word. Just watched.
The flower arrangement on the table shook from the impact. My breath hitched. Tears filled my eyes again. My fingers reached for the fabric of my dress. I raised a hand to cover my mouth, still staring at the door he walked out of.
He left me. He broke up with me. On the night of his movie premiere.
"Oh my God..." I gasped, finally giving up the fight against my tears. I collapsed backward into the armchair. My shoulders shook with sobs.
My body moved without me. I had no control. The realization crashed over me, and my sobs grew louder. My body hurt from shaking.
He was gone.
And it was the last time I saw him—until that stupid offer came along.
✯
I never heard the sirens. I didn’t feel the firefighters pulling me from the crushed convertible. I only vaguely heard the sound of metal groaning as they dragged my nearly lifeless body from the wreck. I didn’t see the stranger’s corpse being zipped into a bag and removed from the scene. I didn’t know he was dead.
While the world moved around me, I remained in darkness.
I never noticed everyone around me speaking Romanian, a language I didn’t know—except through Sebastian’s translations. Propped on a stretcher, I started to hear the faint sound of a helicopter. I pushed all my strength into opening my eyes. When I did, I could see the green straps of the oxygen mask, and in my peripheral vision, something white around my neck. I was strapped from the waist down, my dress had been cut open, and there was a sheet over me. People were speaking rapidly around me.
A woman appeared over me. She said something in Romanian, and I caught my name mid-sentence. "Nora Walter, Douăzeci și șapte, femeie, kaza de mașină. Știm încă de un contact de urgență?" She turned to me. "Nora, I told them your name, your age, and that you’re female. Do you have an emergency contact?"
I blinked at her.
When she realized I couldn’t speak, she took my hand. "If you understand me, squeeze my hand twice." Somehow, the calm in her voice grounded me. I squeezed her hand twice. It hurt. She smiled. I felt the lift of the stretcher—but it made my body scream in pain.
"Rus— Russel Wilhelm," I stammered. "Seb— Sebastian Stan," I added seconds later, using the last breath in me.
She turned back to the team. "Întâlnește-te cu Travis Wilhelm și Sebastian Stan. Starea femeii este gravă. Luați legătura și anunțați-ne cât mai curând posibil!" Words Sebastian had once translated for me now poured from her mouth fluently. Someone handed her my phone.
"Once we land, we’ll call them both for you, okay?"
I sniffled. "Am I going to die?" My voice was barely there. But I had to know.
She nodded. "Sweetheart, we’re going to take care of you. Don’t worry. Everything’s going to be okay." She squeezed my hand and gave me a soft, clumsy smile before turning back to the others shouting around us. Soon after, I felt myself being moved again.
Darkness took me again. My broken body dragged through it
✯
Sebastian sat there, staring at the ceiling. "You idiot, you should’ve gone with her." He bit his lower lip, wrestling with himself. The leftover red wine gave him an excuse to sulk. He didn’t call her. No. He hadn’t dared invite her to Romania for a quick weekend getaway.
Not while his heart still belonged to Nora. It took him far too long to realize they needed to work things out. He replayed their breakup like a film in his head, each scene hurting more than the last. He could still see himself storming out of the hotel room, slamming the door.
He still remembered blaming her age. She was only twenty-one, and he was thirty-two. They were both fools, and he should never have made it about that. Nora was insecure and loved him. And he shattered her.
He rubbed his face, scratching at his beard. His phone rang—Russel.
He answered and took a sip of wine. "Hello?"
"Sebastian, there’s been an accident…" The sound of packing in the background. "Nora… I don’t have the details, but she was taken to the hospital. I’m sending a car to pick you up."
Sebastian almost shattered the glass in his hand. "What?!" he shouted, jumping to his feet. "Oh my God, is she okay?!"
Russel took a shaky breath. "I don’t know. The car flipped—ten times, maybe? I think her ribs are broken? Whoever called me spoke English, so maybe there was a translator? I don’t know. They’re hoping she’ll be okay."
Sebastian felt his chest collapse. "Okay. I’ll see you soon."
He packed quickly. Just as Russel had said, a car was waiting downstairs. The door opened automatically. Sebastian nearly dove into the back seat.
His stomach churned. He fought back tears and bile. The car sped toward the hospital.
All Sebastian could think about was the last few weeks. How cruel he’d been. How they’d both gone for each other’s throats without hesitation.
He thought about the girl he slammed a door on. Was she scared? Was she even conscious? If not, how had they reached Russel?
Sitting in the backseat, he twisted with anxiety. The second they arrived, Sebastian burst through the hospital doors. He didn’t want to be here—but he had to be.
In the lobby, Russel quickly caught him. They rushed to a waiting room.
"Any news?!" Sebastian asked. Russel shook his head.
"Still in surgery. Nurse said the doctor will update us when it’s over."
The wait began.
What felt like four hours was just one. Sebastian bounced his leg, Russel made phone calls canceling upcoming shows.
Finally, a male doctor entered. Clipboard in hand. Serious eyes.
"Mr. Wilhelm and Mr. Stan? What is your relation to Ms. Walter?"
"I’m her manager," Russel said.
Sebastian didn’t hesitate. "I’m her boyfriend."
The doctor nodded.
"Ms. Walter made it through surgery. But recovery will take time. Four broken ribs. A fracture in her left foot. Dislocated right shoulder. She hit the dashboard—but miraculously, the only facial injuries are a broken nose, split lip, and a black eye."
Sebastian’s heart sank.
Russel exhaled in relief. "She was drunk. Her BAC was over the legal limit. But maybe that kept her conscious and able to give us your names."
The doctor placed the clipboard behind his back.
"She’s alive because she wore a seatbelt. The driver was ejected through the windshield and was killed by an oncoming vehicle. No ID, face unrecognizable. We’re waiting on confirmation."
Russel gasped. "She wasn’t alone?"
The doctor nodded. "If you knew him, we’d take a statement. But clearly, you don’t."
Russel collapsed into a chair.
"When can we see her?" Sebastian asked.
"She’s recovering. Once she wakes up, we’ll transfer her to a room and you can both see her."
✯
"Ms. Walter, can you hear me?" A soft, unfamiliar voice broke through. I felt the numbness. My eyes opened slowly. Bright lights. White room. A young nurse adjusting something on a monitor.
"We gave you something for the pain. Do you feel any?"
I tried to move. Nothing.
"No," my voice trembled.
She smiled, grabbed my chart. "You’ve got two visitors. They waited all night to see you. I’ll let them know you’re ready."
I said nothing. I leaned back into the stiff mattress. Oxygen in my nose. Blood still in my mouth.
Soon, Sebastian and Russel entered the room.
"Baby," Sebastian rushed to me. Russel followed. Both stood on either side of my bed.
My eyes moved between them. I started crying again.
But when my gaze locked on those ocean blues I missed so much—the dam broke. A sob escaped me as his hand cupped my cheek. Russel stepped back, watching us.
Sebastian leaned down and kissed my forehead. My body shook.
"Baby, don’t cry. I’m right here." His voice soothed me. "I’m so sorry," he whispered. "I was awful to you… I’m so glad you’re okay."
"W-What happened?" My throat burned with every word.
Russel spoke. "Car crash. It flipped. Four broken ribs, one fractured ankle, dislocated shoulder. But… that’s it. You’re okay otherwise."
I cried out. Sebastian kissed the tears away.
"Baby, breathe. You’re safe now."
This was the Sebastian I knew. Or maybe it was the painkillers making me see things.
"P-Please don’t leave me," I whispered.
He nodded. "I’m not going anywhere, beautiful. I’ve got you." He laced his fingers with mine.
Another promise he might not keep.
I lay there, tears flowing. Thinking about the runways I’d miss. Would I ever be the same? Would magazines forget me? Would a limp end my career?
Everything I worked for—gone. All those sleepless nights. All those hunger pains. Friendships ruined for covers.

• REMINISCENCES •
Recall or “remembering ” refers to the mental process of retrieving information from the past. It is one of the three basic processes of memory, along with encoding and storage. There are three main types of recall: free recall, cued recall and serial recall. Psychologists test recall as a way to study memory processes in humans and animals.

summary: To confront his past, Bucky goes to visit a familiar face.
Bucky sighed and looked at the apartment building in front of him. He ran his hand, the fleshy one, through his short hair, thinking what a bad idea this was. He had just wanted to disappear and instead he found himself living with several people in the same building. After all, it was the best choice, she knew. Maybe he wouldn't have any neighbors interfering, maybe he could get one miserable word out of his mouth. Maybe he could prove again that he really was Bucky.
He took a deep breath and walked to the front door with a single suitcase and new keys, then followed the stairs. His apartment was 305. He remembered it was on the first floor, easy to reach. She started walking and looking at the numbers on the doors.
301.
302.
303.
304-
The door suddenly opened and he saw a girl coming out. He suddenly tensed as he realized how nervous, almost scared she looked.
Scared?
He was surprised when the young woman appeared in front of him. He didn't know what to do, he had to say hello. Well, maybe, if she was more… normal. When she finally looked at him he still looked upset and immediately apologized, gestured and talked about how he thought something had happened.
Something?
He wanted to raise one eyebrow in response but she couldn't shake a strange feeling.
“Don't worry. I'm new here and, um… it looks like you're here with me. Nice to meet you, I'm Bucky.” he tried to sound as free as he could and put on one of his best expressions. He was really trying, but there was something dead on his face. He then focused on her hesitant gaze, grabbing the hand she gently offered him.
It was only a second, but that touch somehow pushed him back. Without even realizing it, he frowned and realized that he hadn't been paying attention for several minutes to the embarrassed smile on her face.
Great, he had already made an embarrassing figure. He cleared his throat, waved his hand briefly and, without making too many claims, walked past her to the door of her apartment.
He quickly opened the door and entered with his suitcase, locked himself in and leaned against the door, then closed his eyes and those eyebrows reappeared.
There seemed to be something wrong with him, especially 'him'. Maybe she was in trouble and could help, even if she wasn't in the mood to babysit. After all, after all, knowing at least one person, adding one contact to her phone, in addition to the psychologist she was obliged to see and who was constantly following her to check on her condition, was an excuse to finally start over.
Wasn't it?
(When I was writing Polina, for some reason I always had Dakota Johson in my head:))
Polina opened her eyes again, breathed slowly and let her muscles relax a little. Still, her mind could not move itself.
On the other hand, her mind had a sensitive passion for details, especially those blue eyes.
When she heard heavy footsteps going up the stairs, she was sure it was the same damn footsteps, and without thinking she opened the door and went out into the corridors. It was only after she turned around and almost tripped over the stranger that she later apologized to.
The person she was looking for was right in front of her, she said something to him casually and only then realized she had made a mistake. When he had finished speaking, it was as if his eyes had become clearer, as if he was not the ruthless killer: yet she would have recognized those eyes anywhere. A different glow, but it was still him. It was impossible not to recognize that body, and even with short hair he had a strange passion for detail in his mind, so he had no doubts.
She hadn't spoken that day, so she couldn't tell from the voice if it was really him, but this time she was sure. His whole body froze in place, but when he noticed her questioning look and that doubt in her eyes, he decided to start his own game. A kind of hide and seek, because if he really remembered her he would kill her instantly.
Wouldn't she?
He said his name was Bucky, but Polina remembered him as the Winter Soldier.
When he left without much of an excuse, she released that great agonized sigh she had been holding in. She was standing in the corridor with her eyes wide open.
She didn't know how or why, but she didn't remember. He believed he had played well, even if he had noticed the trace of suspicion, maybe he was safe.
Or maybe this would be the beginning of a long game of cat and mouse.

Summary: The morning after a night of passion, Nora wakes up to an empty bed—and a bitter truth. As reality hits, she discovers Sebastian has already moved on. Torn between rage, heartbreak, and pride, she refuses to let herself be humiliated again. In a sharp, defiant spiral, she storms out, determined to drown her pain in flashing lights and foreign lips. With Russel—her reluctant publicist—in tow, she heads into the Romanian night, not for revenge, but for reclamation. Of her pride. Of her power. And maybe, of something wilder.
Warning: Breakup aftermath, Emotional trauma, Infidelity, Drinking, Language (strong), Public confrontation, Grief, Heartbreak, Rebound behavior, Sexual tension, Self-destruction, Aggressive language, Partying, Media exposure risk, Verbal conflict, Emotional whiplash
When I woke up the next morning, I was alone. My eyes met the rapidly flickering sunrise of Romania. The bed was a mess, and the headache was sharp at the back of my skull. Closing my eyes, I rubbed my face, realizing what had happened the night before. I could still taste the wine on my lips, mixed with the taste of him. When I brought my fingers to my swollen lips, the memories came together. Every second began to replay in my head.
Moans.
Touches.
Laughter.
I tried to hold in everything inside me with a deep breath just so I wouldn’t break down and cry. Last night, everything had felt normal, as if the fights between us had never happened. We had become Sebastian and Nora again. Everyone’s favorite couple. But underneath, we were lovers who couldn’t stand being apart.
When I checked the time, I realized I had two hours to shower and get ready for this morning’s photoshoot. Letting out a groan through my lips, I threw the blankets off and rushed to my suitcase to grab my clothes. I opened my playlist as I got in the shower and sang along to a few songs before getting out. The last thing I needed was to get sick, so I quickly blow-dried my hair, sprayed on some perfume, and didn’t worry too much about how I looked since the makeup team at the shoot would take care of the rest.
As I stepped out of the bathroom and into the living room, I heard his voice. He stood there, back turned, talking on the phone. I knew I shouldn’t be curious. If someone eavesdropped on my calls, I’d probably lose it. Okay, definitely lose it. I moved behind one of the pillars and yes—I started listening.
I know. I shouldn’t have.
But come on, you would’ve listened too.
You would’ve, right?
"Yes, darling, everything’s fine. I’ll be home soon… I know." He waited for responses on the other end, giving answers in turn. He walked around the corner and sat down on the couch—the same couch with a pillow and blanket on it.
He had gotten out of bed last night.
"I love you too, Alejandra."
Fuck.
I bit my lip hard, suddenly understanding why he’d said last night was a mistake. He had already moved on. Everything made so much sense now. When I saw him toss the phone aside, I quickly stepped out and made my way to the fridge to grab a bottle of water.
“Nora?” Sebastian called. I chose to ignore him, unscrewed the bottle cap, and drank deeply—my throat suddenly desert-dry. His brows furrowed as he looked at me.
“I think we need to talk about last night,” he muttered.
Last night, he called me baby. Who does he think he is?
“No,” I said, firm and sharp. “There’s nothing to talk about because apparently last night meant absolutely nothing to you.” My voice, my vocal cords—everything was dripping with rage. Sebastian let out a sigh and rubbed his face with both hands.
Tears threatened to fall, but I quickly wiped my eyes before he could see.
“Did it mean anything to you?” Sebastian asked under his breath.
“Who cares, Sebastian? You’re with someone else. What I think doesn’t matter anymore.” I shoved my things into my bag in a rush and called the driver to say I was ready to be picked up.
Sebastian stared at me from where he sat.
“Also, enjoy the suite. Tell Alejandra she can stay with you. Let her know she can hop on a plane and be here in no time,” I added, shaking my head. “I’m not coming back.”
Sebastian’s eyes widened. “Where the hell do you think you’re going?” he asked as I reached for the door handle.
“Anywhere. As long as I’m far from you. I can’t even stand to look at your face—you disgust me!” I screamed. And suddenly, the hazy feeling that had been stirring in my stomach last night vanished. Gone. Replaced with the hatred I felt for him the day we broke up. Lies, betrayal, desperation. It was enough to shove my mind back into the emotions I used to have for Sebastian.
I slammed the door and took the elevator down. When I reached the lobby, I threw on my sunglasses and rushed outside to the car. Russel was already seated, scanning my face.
“Oh, darling,” he said, catching my reddened eyes. “Are you okay?”
I nodded, sniffling.
“Cancel the deal. I don’t want it anymore. Whatever you and Alex thought would work—it’s not working.”
Russel looked at me for a moment, his face fixed in a confused expression. He obviously knew the short version of the tension between me and Seb. He’d never dared to ask for the longer one. But as I sat there stewing, Russel simply sighed. He’d have to find a way to leave me where I stood, but Nora Walter was one of the most stubborn people he’d ever met. If forced to choose between stubborn and determined, she always picked determined—because it sounded nicer.
The entire photoshoot passed with flashes going off in my face and stern looks thrown my way. Every smile I gave was painfully fake, and it wasn’t just last night—the events of this morning had my blood boiling. The shoot didn’t last long, thankfully. The moment they called wrap in the studio, I was the first to pack up my things.
I didn’t even bother taking off the curls from the shoot or the awful makeup. Despite that, I decided to go out in the sparkly golden dress that hugged my body perfectly—an illusion-making fit that made me look curvier than I was.
Russel watched me as I left the studio and walked toward the waiting car, his eyes glued to me.
“Where are you going?” he asked. I took a deep breath—he wasn’t going to like any answer I gave. On the other hand, I desperately needed emergency damage control.
“I’m going to get drunk,” I said, eyes glittering.
His eyes widened and he shook his head. “No! We have to be on a flight back to New York tomorrow morning!”
I sighed, shrugging. “I’ll be back in time to make the flight.”
The entire ride back to the suite was filled with Russel’s nonstop pleas for me not to go out partying, but I had made up my mind—and that meant no turning back. I needed to forget everything. Sebastian Stan was my worst memory now, and I had to drown it in drunk recollections—or suffocate it with a sexier Romanian guy. If I was lucky, maybe both.
When the car pulled up to the hotel, the door opened. “Russel, get out,” I said sternly. He shook his head.
“No, I’m not letting you go,” he said, folding his arms across his chest.
“Are you seriously going to make me do this?” I asked, and he frowned.
“Close the door!” I shouted, and the door automatically shut Russel out. His eyes widened in horror as he turned toward me, silently begging. “Take us to Romania’s most popular nightclub,” I instructed the driver with a smirk. Russel stared at me.
“What are you doing?!” he shouted.
I smiled.
“We’re either getting drunk or sleeping with the hottest guys in the club. Your choice.” I winked, savoring the horror on his face.
Russel groaned. “Darling, no! As your professional publicist, I can’t be seen doing this!” he practically screeched, voice climbing an octave.
“Then just watch.” I sighed and turned to look out at the road streaming by.

Author's Note:
All news about Sebastian Stan in this chapter are real. Since Nora is a fictional character I created, of course, I wrote all the news about her myself. The headlines about Sebastian were taken directly from original sources and translated word-for-word. I’ll drop the links below for anyone curious to check them out.
Even though Nora is fictional, I’ve made sure her storyline stays grounded in the real world and timeline—and honestly, that’s one of the things I enjoy the most about writing her. :D
For Nora’s 2022 Met Gala look, I drew inspiration from Taylor Hill. I really liked her outfit that year—it fit the theme perfectly. As you know, I picture Nora as someone with a Taylor Hill kind of beauty and energy, so she’s been my main visual reference. But feel free to imagine her however you want. :)
And as sweet as Sebastian looked at the 2022 Met Gala... let’s be honest, he was totally off-theme.
