Mrs. Holland (Mob!Tom Holland x Reader)
Summary: Reader is happily married to Tom. The reader is constantly underestimated, even by her own husband. One day in an emergency Tom and Harrison had to leave the reader with the position of leader. Now she must prove everyone wrong. A woman is as capable as fending for herself just like any man.
You had previously lived in New York. You were born and raised in America. You always thought you would live the rest of your days in America. Of course, that changed when you married Tom. Now you lived in London and wouldn’t have it any other way. In London, Tom had his notorious business. He dealt in contraband, black market, drugs, and mercenary work. You knew all about it and at first you weren't in favor of it, however, you grew to accept it.
You told Tom that he should donate often to different charities. Of course, he agreed and did so. After a while, you began to like watching Tom at work. You tried learning everything there is to know about his business. When it came to the violence portion you usually flinched or coiled back. Sometimes you looked away. Within a few months of your marriage, you stopped looking away. You became interested and wanted to work with Tom on some tasks.
"Come on Tom, please. Let me do something." You pleaded. You were alone with him in his office.
Tom shook his head. "Love, we've gone over this. My job gets too complicated and I really don't want to have to worry about one more thing." He stated.
You crossed your arms and glared at him. "Oh, so now I'm a liability?" You asked.
He crossed his arms at you now. "Yes."
Your mouth opened in shock. "How rude."
He chuckled a bit. "I'm sorry, love. Truly I am. I just want you to be safe." He tried to reason with you.
You rolled your eyes. "I get that Tom, but really you underestimate me. I don't want to just be your wife-" You said sitting on his desk.
"I thought you liked being my wife?" He asked you as he put a hand on your thigh.
You turned to look at him. " I love being your wife, but that's not what I want people to only see me as. I am much more than that. I deserve to be more than just some accessory."
"Sweetheart, you aren't my accessory. If someone has been putting this stuff in your head, you need to tell me their name. Then, I will handle it." He stated trying to comfort you.
You shook your head. "No one is putting anything in my head." You replied. "I just want to prove that I am capable of a lot of things."
He smirked. "Trust me, sweetheart, I know you're capable of a lot of things."
You got off his desk groaning. "You really don't listen."
He sighed. "Love, I'm sorry. You think I like saying no to you? I don't."
You crossed your arms. "Fine, no sex for a week."
"You're pulling this card on me? I can't believe you." He genuinely looked surprised.
He sat quietly. "Fine. A week isn't that long."
You took that as a challenge. "You're right. Two weeks."
"Not enough?" You asked. "Three weeks then."
He started to look agitated now. "You're taking it too far."
You cocked your head to the side. "I don't think it's far enough. How about a month?"
"Will you stop adding more weeks. Please." He pleaded with you.
"Will you finally let me work with you?"
"Aww come back here! I might let you do other stuff!" You shouted after him.
Everyone...every.single.person in that hallway turned to look at you. Tom's eyes looked like they were going literally leap outside of his sockets. He looked at everyone's faces.
"Well go on then. Get back to your own damn business." He raised his voice a bit.
Everyone likes away and scurried off. Tom walked quickly towards you and grabbed your arm. He pulled you back into his office and shut the door.
"What the bloody hell was that?!" He looked livid.
You shrunk yourself up a bit. "I'm sorry. I didn't think anyone was gonna pay attention."
"Of course they would! You were yelling like a bloody maniac!" He yelled.
You frowned. "I'm sorry! It just happened."
He shook his head. " This, this is why I won't let you work with me! You're too bloody childish! No one will even take you seriously!" He exclaimed. His face was so red and angry that a vein was bulging on his forehead.
You were so pissed now. It was just an accident but now he was just plain insulting you. You slapped his face hard. That sound of the slap echoed throughout the room.
He turned to you with fire in his eyes and a dash of shock. "I told you already. It.was.an.accident."
He grabbed both of your wrists and pulled you close to him. "This business doesn't have room for mistakes. If you do something on accident, that costs your life."
You squinted your eyes at me. "Tom you really do underestimate." You pulled your hands free from him.
You walked out of the room leaving Tom there. You went to your shared room and into the closet. Tom had kept a safe there. He didn't like having you looking in the vault. Mostly because he kept a gun there and other documents. You didn't know much about the documents and Tom liked to keep it that way. Sure you could read them but you simply didn't understand what it meant. You figured if Tom didn't want you to know, it was for good reason. You put in the code which was the date of your wedding. The safe popped open. You grabbed the gun and shut the safe. You put the gun behind your back and left. Tom had a small room where he'd occasionally practice shooting his guns. You were never really allowed to go in. Something about being too delicate, or that you don't need to shoot anything since you'd constantly be protected. You knocked on the door.
"Mrs.Holland, you're not supposed to be in here." Cleveland, the guard said after he opened the door.
You tried getting in. "Come on Cleveland, it's not a big deal."
He shook his head. "Boss said you're never to enter in here."
"Please, don't you work for me too?" You asked.
He looked indecisive. "Yes, but I only take orders from Mr.Holland."
You groaned. "I won't say anything to Tom. Just, please."
He sighed and looked around. He then cocked his head inside the room. You smiled and went inside. A target was set up for you.
You looked up at him. "Yes?" You asked.
"If you don't mind me asking, why is it that you want to practice shooting?" He asked.
You were at the table and began loading the magazine. "I haven't done this since before I met Tom. My father taught me. He believed that I should be able to protect myself. I believe the same thing. Tom...not so much." You slapped the magazine in the gun.
You put on safety goggles and soundproof headphones. You turned off the safety on the gun. You pointed the gun to the target and started firing. Each bullet landing on a significant spot on the target. You put the safety back on and put the gun down. You took off your headphones and goggles. You turned to Cleveland who looked astonished.
"I must say Mrs.Holland, I would have never guessed that you could handle a gun like that." He stated.
You let out a laugh. "Well, no one would guess a lot of things about me. It's not like anyone could since I'm only seen as Mrs.Holland. The defenseless damsel of a trophy wife."
Cleveland nodded. "There is that, and the fact that the men don't tend to take you seriously solely based on the fact act that you are a woman."
You had a soft smirk on your face. “Well someone finally admits it. I just really hope that’s not the same case for my husband. Otherwise, I’m going to have to prove them all wrong.” You stated.
You opened the door to the hallway and looked around. You saw no one passing by so you exited. A week had gone by and you hadn’t really talked to Tom since that fight you had. You'd be lying if you said you didn't miss him. Of course you missed talking to your husband but you were both pretty ticked off at each other. One day you hadn't seen him which worried the hell out of you. At some point you got a call from an unknown number. On any other day you wouldn't have picked it up, but you had a feeling it was important.
You heard a sigh of relief. "Thank god you picked up love."
"Tom? Why the hell aren't you calling me from your phone? Where the hell are you?" You're head was spinning with all the questions you had
"Darling, I don't have much time to explain. I'm on a burner phone. Harrison and I are in trouble and we need you." He explained.
You were becoming increasingly concerned now. "Tom what the hell do you mean?"
He sighed. "Cops are onto us. We can't return home."
My heart dropped at the news. "Tom,please tell me this is a joke. I need you."
He sighed. "Love, you know that safe in our closet?"
"I'm going to need you to open it. You know the code." He stated.
You ran to the safe and typed it in. You opened it. "What now?"
"Grab the files. They're documents for a safe house and other information."
I grabbed the files. "Baby will you be at the safe house?" I asked hoping he'd be there.
"Sorry love, I need to lay low. I'm leaving the country."
He sighed. "I know love, I hate it too. I'd get you but we don't have time and I'd be putting both of us in a lot of danger."
"Love there is more stuff in those papers you might not understand now. It's a lot of legal work but I need you to keep them safe. I'll explain more when I can. Right now I need to go. Y/N tell Michael that we're going under protocol Churro he'll know what to do."
"Churro? Really?" You asked
"Y/N there's no time to question things." He said.
"I love you. Please be safe. Oh and Y/N? Have fun being in charge." He said and hung up before you could even reply to him.
You grabbed the documents and put them in a bag of yours. You saw the gun still in the safe. You grabbed it and tucked it in to your pants in the back. You pulled your shirt down to cover it. You quickly started to rush packing. You grabbed your bags and went to look for Michael. He was a bodyguard, the top one actually.
"Michael!" You spotted him.
He saw the frantic look on my face and my bags. "Mrs. Holland, what's going on?" He asked.
"I just got a call from my husband, he wanted me to tell you that we are going under protocol Churro." You explained.
His expression changed instantly. He lifted his wrist and spoke into it. "Code Churro, I repeat code churro, this is not a drill. I need a car for Mrs. Holland in the garage asap so we can take her to the safe house." He looked at you. "Mrs. Holland come with me."
He started walking to the back of the house to a cabinet. He pushed a frame down and a panel appeared. "I'm going to need you to put your hand there."
You placed my hand on the panel where I got scanned. The cabinet moved to reveal a passage. In that moment we heard a crash. I turned to see people breaking in. I screamed in horror.
"We need to move now!" Michael exclaimed.
I ran into the secret passage. Michael stayed behind a bit. I heard a lot of gunshots. I continued to run. I saw an elevator. I pressed a button and it opened. I ran inside and I saw Michael running towards me. I held the door open as I pressed the G button on the elevator. He ran inside. I noticed somebody entered the passage. I screamed as they started shooting. Michael turned around stood in front of me. He started shooting back as the doors started shutting. Another set of doors opened behind us. I looked around to see a garage. I didn't know this was underneath my house.
"This way Mrs. Holland." Michael stated.
He guided you to three cars. You were taken to the one in the middle. He opened the door for you. You got in and he got in after you.
"It'll be best if you stay low in case anything happens on the way. We can't risk any accidents." He stated then looked around. "Driver, notify the others that we're on the move."
You quickly made a getaway out of the garage leaving your home behind. You were slumped down in the seat. You weren't sure what was going on but all of a sudden you heard gunshots. You knew people were after you do they could get to Tom. You heard a huge explosion and realized the car in front had flipped over sending you into a silent panic. Michael opened his window and started firing at the enemy. "Shit, I'm out." He said.
You quickly grabbed your gun from your pants and handed it to him.
"Thanks." He replied and begin to fire again. "Driver went need to lose them to quickly make the switch."
The driver nodded and drifted into a completely different direction. He went in between other cars. The gunshots were now in the distance. The car cut into an alley way.
Michael held up his wrist. "We lost them for now but we need to hurry and make the switch." Michael gave our location.
Soon a simple taxi approached the alley way.
"Come with me, Mrs. Holland." Michael said.
You followed him into the taxi.
"To the safe house. Maintain a normal speed, we don't want raise an alarm." Michael commanded.
The taxi began to move to the direction we needed to go. The black vehicle I was in left the alley way in the other direction and began to speed. Soon I heard gunshots following it.
We soon arrived to a secluded house in the outskirts of the city. I was taken inside of the house where Michael took my phone and destroyed my sim card. He handed me a burner phone.
"This phone has Mr. Holland's new number programmed in it. The only one who knows your number now is him. He will be expecting your call to make sure you're safe." Michael explained.
You nodded and looked for his number and called him. You went to your temporary bedroom to get some privacy. You shut the door.
"Love, is that you?" You heard Tom's voice.
You smiled upon hearing your husband's voice. "Yes baby, its me."
"Thank god, you're alright. Did you run into any trouble?" He asked you.
You nodded. "Yes, it was awful. They were shooting at us. I was terrified. When we were driving the car in front of us had been flipped over. I just hope they're going to be okay." You had explained.
You were trying to be hopeful but you knew whoever was in that vehicle probably didn't make it.
"I'm sorry that they went after you. I'm just glad you're okay." He replied.
You took a deep breath. "Tom, what's really happening?"
He sighed. "This deal I was supposed to make went bad. I'm protecting someone valuable. I was gonna hand her to the police for protection but someone tried to snore her. We suspect that there were some dirty cops. Now whoever is coming after her are coming after us and the police now think we're trying to use her knowledge for the wrong reasons."
"What are we going to do?" You asked.
"I can't do anything on my end, but I'm putting you in charge. Get our people to find out who is behind all of this." He replied.
You were unsure. "Me? Tom I have no experience in any of this. How can I give orders if they don't take me seriously. You said it yourself."
"Darling I said that stuff in the heat of the moment, I didn't mean it. They'll take you seriously, you're my wife." He reassured you.
You sighed. You were tired of just being Mrs. Holland. You've never been given the chance to be anything more than that but now that you did have the chance you were terrified of the responsibility. "I love you." You said quietly.
"I love you too. You can do this, I believe in you." He tried to make you feel better.
You were unsure about it all but you knew you needed to take charge and prove to everyone that you aren't just Mrs.Holland.
