Sokka is a genius but he did not know that Bato and his Dad were dating till their literally wedding day.

He thought they were just good bros. Best friends. Sharing a bed how you do. Y'know against the cold.

Sokka is both very observant and also completely unobservant, depending on what he finds important (ADHD king!)

I like to think he kind of assigns people a role/box and Bato has just been comfortably slotted into the "dad's Best Friend and Very Important Person" for years, to the extent Sokka just... doesn't notice when the how of 'Bato is important to Dad' changes

I didn't think it was something that actually happened in real actual life but today my philosophy professor told us that the reason he hasn't graded our midterms yet is because he's an enfp so he doesn't have an attention span

i hc that when someone wants to come out as lgbtq+ in the southern water tribe, they always go to bato (or kanna, when the men were at war) and come out to him first bc he has a tendancy to unoffically adopt people. he's really good at helping them come out to their families/the tribe, and helps them tell their crush and all that, but ironically bato can't for the life of him tell hakoda his crush on him until Katara gets tired of it and helps him out. gotta pay it forward, after all.

Oh I love this! Bato just being the mentor and accepting presence that people need, but in true pining fashion being a dumbass about his own feelings

last week i liked bato and hakoda a normal amount. i don't think i even entertained the thought of them together. after fleet week, i've come away with a full barrage of headcanons and new favorite fics about the two of them. thank you bakodafleetweek for introducing me to the ship i didn't know i needed in my life.

Then our job here is done! Seriously though, we're super pleased with the amount of engagement with this week, and excited to see the Bakoda content keep coming! Happy we could help introduce you to this wonderful ship 😊

Do you think you'll do another Bakoda Fleet Week next year?

Short answer: we would absolutely love to!

Slightly longer answer: next year is a long way away so we can't make any concrete promises, but we've discussed it and even if we aren't available to run it we'll see about recruiting new mods. The response to this week has blown us away and we'd love to see it continue.
