It is the 24th of december in 2031.Disney just released the live action remake for "Ice age" (2002) in cinemas.
In the movie,Diego, instead of having a change of heart,remains evil and is never redeemed.He is later killed in the scene where Manny and Sid fight the other sabertooths,specifically by Manny himself.Sid and Manny change their minds about returning the baby to the humans.Instead,Sid decides to keep the baby and raise it as his own.Also,Manny and Sid get separated at the end.Manny decides to continue living his life alone and all by himself,and Sid just leaves with the baby he's going to raise.Soto is removed from the story for no real reason.
People on the internet,both the ones who watched the OG Ice Age movie once when they were 6 and tought it was kinda cool,and the ones who have written at least 164 fanfiction about Sid,Manny,and Diego falling in love with eachother and having multiple fanchildren,rightfully criticise the remake for bastardizing the characters and story of the original film,calling it a soulless cashgrab that feels like it was made by someone who watched the original movie,missed every point and message it ever tried to convey to the audience,hated the original film deeply,and decided to make an awful rewrite of it.Only difference is that the rewrite wasn't something posted on a random social media website,but something that was written as a script for a film,somehow ended up getting approved,and made it's way in the final product.
The movie makes 400 million dollars on opening weekend,and eventually grosses over 1 billion dollars at the box office.It gets a 73% critic score and a 96% audience score on rotten tomatoes.Suddently, it's impossible to go in any public place without witnessing at least one colossal billboard advertising the film.Stores are filled to the brim with Ice Age merchandise.Trying to use any social media without seeing an ad for the movie?Good luck.
Eventually following the huge success of the film,Disney announces remakes of the Ice Age sequels, starting with a live action remake of "The meltdown".A few months after the theatrical release of "Ice age (2031)",the movie falls into relative obscurity,and it's existence is eventually forgotten by most people,both the ones that saw the film,and the ones that only heard about it.The movie is only ever brought up online when discussing live action remakes, specifically ones that miss the point of the original film they are a remake of.Aside from that,nobody else ever mentions the film in any other discussion
