For the anon who thinks it's wild that just being a decent person makes them "proship" even though they don't ship anything problematic: "proship" is just the new name for what in Ye Olden Days was known as "being a normal person". It doesn't mean that you ship, or even like, problematic stuff. A LOT of proshippers only have "wholesome" ships, and are actively disgusted by various other stuff--they just know that disgust is a personal feeling and not a moral judgement so they just avoid the stuff they can't stand and leave people into it alone. Proship is literally just a name for "person who stays away from what upsets them or they dislike instead of seeking in out snd isn't an asshole to whoever does like it". The only reason we even have a label is the anti movement gave themselves one and it cropped up to clarify we weren't we with them since they tried to claim they were normal people. (Ye Olden Days they would have been called assholes)

I really feel like the ppl making angry posts about the ao3 fundraiser donation amounts are fundamentally misunderstands the sheer *volume* of ppl using ao3 on the daily. Like. It is understandable to feel things while being in a position to need money but it is wildly illogical to blame other tumblr users for the attention gap

Love it when antis complain about ao3 getting thousands of dollars in donations. Like do these idiots not realize that ao3 is a non-profit service that millions of ppl use, so statistically more people are not only going to see that "hey donate to ao3 banner" but donate as well?

Can't forget that donating a certain amount gets people a membership to the otw as well, so it's a strong incentive to people who care a lot about the way the site is run.

I am ace, I'm pretty neutral when it comes to sex, my personal thing is that "I just don't want to do it". Fiction however? I read and write smut, I feel much safer in it because I know no one of the character will ever force ME into something I don't want to do. Fiction is how I came to understand that "the reason why I want to read about it BUT not experience it" is because I'm asexual. I don't need someone holding my hand and treating me like a child lmao I'm a 27 y/o with a job. Then again I am very short with a babyface so they probably will tell me I'm child coded anyway.

I just saw an Anti go "why do you have a 'Minors DNI' when you're writing NSFW of minors?!?" (the 'minors' being, of course, fictional) as some sort of gotcha and, like... I thought I've seen everything, but humanity does like to surprise, huh?

it's such a weird argument, y'know? Its not only an issue of legality to keep minors out of NSFW spaces, but almost always to keep minors away from adults who may behave in a predatory way.

and the age of a fictional character is arbitrary and usually only matters for plot / genre definitions. BNHA could easily be about a bunch of college kids, or the YA dystopia book of the week could exclusively be 18+ characters and very little would change.
