Calling all crewmates; it is once again time to submit your sign ups for this year's voyage through the fandom universe! Please fill out the google form here to join Impromptster.
We're very excited to have new and returning crewmates for the second year of this event! Please check the updated rules doc for this year's event as things are going to work just a little bit differently. Sign ups will close July 6th at 11:59 P.M. EST.
Calling all Captains, this is the MCYT Impromptster speaking. We are in need of additional support handling the crew of this year's event (we're unsure if word has made it around your parts of the galaxy, but last year's voyage had a few impromptsters), and that could be you! If you'd like to join us on our 2026 voyage through the creative universe, please submit an application here by June 11th. We can't wait to hear from you!
Potential crewmates, keep a weather eye on this blog for information on how to participate!
Hello space travellers, it's the Captains of the MCYT Impromptster once again. We're still on the lookout for additional Captains until June 11th, and that could be you! If you're interested in helping steer our participants through the creative universe (while keeping an eye out for those pesky imposters, of course), please fill out our mod application here before the deadline! We look forward to hearing from you.
With helpful feedback and reflection, we've modified some of the core mechanics (mainly guessing mechanics) to make the event more engaging for all parties. More details below the read more.
All participants will receive a prompt this year; however, you will not be told if you are a crewmate or an impromptster. The crewmates and impromptsters have similar prompts to each other, but the prompts will be slightly different. Everyone will have to figure out two things: whether they are a crewmate or an impromptster, and what the other prompt is! (If you've ever played the Jackbox game Push the Button, it's similar to how the aliens get adjacent prompts in that game—only this time, aliens don't know they are aliens!)
Each person has the chance to win by figuring out which side they are on (crewmate or impromptster) and figuring out what the other side's prompt was!
This year instead of having two rounds of guessing, we are turning the second round into a comment fest: people are encouraged to read and comment on other's works in the collection (more details on this to come when the time nears!).
Similar prompts? What do you mean by similar prompts?
We mods are very selective about choosing fair prompts to make this the best possible event. Our criteria for prompts are:
Both prompts are general common nouns (person, place, or thing)
Prompts are related to each other in a broad context
Neither prompt in a prompt pair is an umbrella term for the other
Prompts are NOT synonyms of each other
Prompts can be easily displayed in both written and art contexts
Feel free to send us any questions/concerns you may have, our inbox is always open!
Attention space travellers! These are your captains speaking, here to let you know today is officially the last day to sign up for MCYT Impromptster's maiden voyage! Please please fill out the sign-up document and join the discord if you haven't already, and we hope to see you aboard!
Attention everyone! An incoming transmission from somewhere in a distant planetary system;
The Impromptster ao3 collections are now open! The parent collection can be found here, which links to each of the 9 teams. If you are interested, please check them out and report back any suspicious behaviour or creations that don't quite fit in. We have been receiving suspicious reports on the ship. It seems... there may just be an Impostor among us.
