HI so i subimitted as a writer and i have nothing in my Ao3 acct cause i wrote but never published BUT i am publishing like one one shot for a AU from another fandom, so do I like edit my response and add the link to the fic when its published?

Is there any way I could have my fiance as my beta reader? The fic I'm writing is an alternate universe we both had an equal hand in creating, I'm just the one between the two of us who actually has motivation to write. I know I'll be asking for his input regardless, but I won't add him to the official doc or give him any classified info about anyone else of course if he can't be my beta. I just figured I'd ask because this au is as much his baby as it is mine.

You're allowed to receive input privately between you and friends/family if they are not participants. We are only asking that the content of your story is not shared publicly (within the server or online).

If you'd like, your fiance can also sign up as "beta reader only" and be assigned to your thread. Just let a moderator know so we can set that up for you! (灬´ᴗ`灬)

question as a possible writer: if i'm not very sure of how long my fic may be, even with a solid outline, can i provide a predicted word count range in the summary? if so, how big can the gap be? (example: would a estimate of 2000-8000 words, giving a gap of 6000, be acceptable?)

Howdy anon! We would appreciate an estimated word count provided with your summary, as it will help us keep track of your progress by each check-in. If you are providing a range, it should not exceed an estimate of 10k words (ex. 6000-16,000), as some artists may prefer a shorter story when choosing their summary. If you're unsure or predict your final word count exceeding said expectations, please leave a note indicating so, as we understand the count can change drastically at any time in the writing process. hello i found out about the sonic big bang about 2 years ago but just kinda always in took the media instead of participating, but this year i was thinking of trying, do you have like an overall guide for new comers? i tried looking but i didnt see anything i mightve been looking in the wrong place

Just one question, wouldn't it be interesting if betas also had some check-ins? I participated as a writer last year, and my beta had almost no time to help me, and I practically posted everything without reviewing it, and I had to ask a friend for help to beta-read at the end of the event. It would be interesting if there was something like that for beta readers, just so we know if they have time to help…

Hey there anon, we answered this concern in the last ask! Beta Readers will not have check-ins, but we do expect everyone who signs up for this role to actively collaborate with their writer. In the case you are unsatisfied with your Beta, you may request a new or additional one through our ticket system~ (..◜ᴗ◝..)

coming to ask these questions here, sorry if they've already been addressed;

Will there be more times between check ins? I was a writer in last year's Big Bang, and the check ins were just a little over a month apart, as well as the final check in (the 80% one) and the fic due date being a week apart. It was incredibly stressful, especially as someone who was busier than they expected to be during the event.

Will beta readers and such be checked in on as well? The last big bang I applied for a beta reader, only for them to go completely radio silent despite me pinging them for each of my chapters. I was only able to get a new one because I asked the mods to check on them.

Hi Anon, nothing to be sorry about! We appreciate every question—it helps ensure everyone’s on the same page!

Check-ins are still spaced a month apart. The final writer deadline is about two weeks earlier than last year, but that’s because writers now have an extra month to work overall. If that feels tight, we offer week-long extensions to help accommodate busy or unpredictable schedules. Setting personal goals for each deadline might help keep things manageable!

Beta readers won’t have formal check-ins, but we’ll do our best to monitor participation. Writers can request a beta reader at any time and specify the kind of feedback they’re looking for. If you’re not satisfied with your assigned beta or would like a second opinion, you’re welcome to submit a ticket through the event Discord.

As always, we encourage you to consider the workload and ensure you're comfortable meeting the event’s minimum requirements. At the end of the day, our only ask is that you create something you’re proud to share! ( „• ֊ •„)੭

I saw an anon post and couldn't help but agree. It really seems like the new rules are leaning more toward artists than writers, and I don't disagree with them, but it seems a bit out of place to me. I participated last year and wanted to participate next year, but I admit I'm pretty discouraged because one of the artists wasn't able to work on anything, and even after the event, I never saw the finished piece. So, it would be really nice if they at least allowed everyone to REALLY have time to participate. This goes for the artists too. you should be stricter about this.

Hi! I know this may be redundant, but I want to be sure I understand the rules before I go do something wrong. I was wondering how far the "anonymity" portion goes. Like, if I proposed a story idea that can be described in a totally anonymous way, outlined in a totally anonymous way, and was generally a whole original premise thought up for the event, would it then be alright to have some more AU-ish elements inside of it? Like, per say, an AU exclusive title for a character, or headcanons for a character (All characters would be canon characters)? I just tend to write all stories in a canon-passing AU, and I want to make sure that's okay.

I think we might've given you the wrong impression about our rules regarding AUs! You are allowed to write for an AU, regardless of how canon-compliant it is, as long as it meets our content guidelines. If it is original enough to the event that you cannot be linked to it, you are more than welcome to write whatever you'd like! Additionally, any original characters are allowed as long as they are not the focus of your story. Please keep an eye out for our upcoming masterguide, so you can double check that your story works within our guidelines.
