hey i was wondering you had any tips for making a resources blog? like, should i just make one and start throwing things i make on it or should i do something else? i'm just curious to see how you went about that kind of thing since you seem like a pretty advanced photoshop user! thank you if you're able to answer!
oh for sure i can give some tips! it took me forever to finally buckle down and make a resource blog, but before that i had experience making template psds for friends to use previously, so i guess i had experience making the templates before i even had the resource blog ( all the moodboard templates i made months before my blog ) and figured since i already willingly give the template to people who need it, it’s better to make a resource blog. anyways, here’s my own thoughts on having your own resource blog : 1 . know what you’re doing ! that’s the most important thing, because i in particular design my templates to be beginner ps friendly, putting guidelines in the layer names to help people out with what goes where and how to do what. i want to try and make all my templates and psd’s beginner friendly, because i have a lot of friends who are novices at photoshop and i imagine there are a lot of people following my resource blog who are in the same boat ! 2 . focus on your strengths ! i’m really good at designing a basic template for moodboards and dash icons, but i really suck at making coloring psds for roleplay! because of that i don’t focus on icon psds, since i’m lazy and for my own rp blogs i use other peoples psds. i have afew psds i’ve made from scratch but it really only works for what i specifically designed it for, so i focus instead on dash icons, screenshots, templates, & i plan some tutorials in the future too . ( edit : you also don’t even need to really do photoshop - you can do writing prompts , ask memes , writing resources for various topics . just any resources meant for roleplay / writing is awesome ! ) 3 . don’t stress it if you’re in a rut with photoshop & can’t come up with any good ideas ! i go through phases where i constantly am in photoshop editing and then i go forever not touching it because i can’t think of anything creative and i feel bad because i want to give good content to my resource blog but i also know that it’s better i put out quality rather than quantity ! 4 . figure out reasonable prices ! find out if you want the particular thing you’re posting to be paid for ( how i determine is: will the person paying for this find continual use for it? would i personally pay money for this product? ) and set up a ko - fi too ! and that’s basically the general tips / rules i’d give you for beginning . find what you want to put onto your blog, and it doesn’t matter what it is because someone will find use for it ! and when , or if , you make it let me know so i can check out your awesome work ! i’d be happy to see someone adding to the creative pool :))
