Okay guys. I'm going to make a post. I didn't want to, but I'm getting tired of it. There has been a ton of contention in chat, in PM, on tumblr.
That being said, the few times that we have talked with a few of our members, instead of keeping it in a group chat to keep it so that everyone may answer, those who were having problems went instantly to PM. This has left many of us feeling defensive on every side. And sadly there has been offense used to defend.
We posted the results of our mod survey in order to try and better serve you. It seemed that the group averagely thought we had problems. And so we made that so we could find our weaknesses, turn them into strengths and thereby make the group better.
We are moderators, yes. And that is a bit of a difficult spot sometimes. But the idea behind this was three people who came up with some cool ideas and wanted a bunch of awesome role-players to join and help forward our story. But, being moderators, we need to also keep things in line. This means trying to keep our players comfortable in our role-play. This is why we have you take the survey when you first join. So we can make events in which most can attend. That we can have a tag list specific to our groups’ triggers. That we can call all of you the correct pronoun, to make you feel welcome.
Just because someone is uncomfortable by something that you write, it is not against you. Each of us has things that we are comfortable with and someone, somewhere, will feel uncomfortable by them. Makes them cringe. Or pulls up bad memories.
It is our job to keep our role-play trigger free. To try and keep arguments down to a minimum. We want this to be a happy family. And sadly our family has hit a rough patch.
We're all human. The mods are. You are. The only difference really is that we have created this. And have a login to the main blog. We all come from around the world. Many of us don't have the easiest schedules, with school, work, or both. That was why we chose a lower activity mandate. We want this blog to be fun. To be a hobby. We don't want it to be a chore. Because when it's a chore, people get burned out. They lose inspiration. Or they try and hack out a reply which leaves their partner disgruntled because they've been left with nothing to work with.
Guys. I adore all of you. You're all amazing.
And that's why I hate to see this cold apathy that's going on in chat and on the dash.
We can't do this without you. While we might be the foundation and that's a good start, we can't do anything without the materials to build. That is all of you. We can make a fantastic roleplay, but we can't do it without all of you.
I would love to see a fresh start. A clean slate. Go back to the old times and all that. We’re all a bit testy right now and pretty much looking for fights. This is on the side of the mods as well as our players. One side can try and amend, but without the cooperation of both sides we can’t change.
If you could like this post, just so I know you read it, that would be fab!
