davey is a super chill boyfriend okay

like his idea of a good time is just popping in a movie at home and cuddling with you on the couch like he really ain’t that high maintenance at all lol

but when you two first start dating, he really wants to make a good impression, so he does put a lot effort into taking you on nice dates like going to dinner or to open mic nights at local cafes or going on nightly picnics under the stars

as you both get more comfortable in the relationship though, he realizes that just spending time with you is as good a date as ever, and “dates” pretty much become just hanging out, but no one is complaining about it cause tbh it’s a lot less expensive lol

anyways, much like newsies!davey in my other boyfriend hc post, modern!davey doesn’t really like being super public about being in a relationship, so he has a lot of subtler ways to show that he cares about you

he’ll send you random tweets throughout the day that he thinks might make you laugh or reminded him of you

(also modern!davey totally is a frequent twitter user even though he doesn’t really tweet much i’m calling it here)

he’ll always ask if you want to come with him to do errands for his parents like pick up les from school or get groceries cause any time spent with you is time worth spending

and he always asks you to text him when you get home after you guys stop hanging out because he wants to know if you got home safely

he’s also really supportive of your hobbies and interests, showing up to any school events you might be involved in for moral support

his most prominent negative trait though is that he can get jealous sometimes

he hates that he does and he really tries to never act on it, but he really can’t help it sometimes

because wow he just really likes you a lot and he doesn’t wanna lose you and his anxiety always tries to tell him that maybe he isn’t good enough for you and that you should be with someone better…

but on the days that you two are just relaxing at his place, watching a movie and cuddling on the couch, he knows for real that you care about him as much as he does about you

and that’s all that matters

it takes him like… 7 months to hike up the courage to first ask you out

and throughout that time, he:

gave himself a lot of unsuccessful self pep talks (”hnnggg just go up and talk to them c’mon dave just do it do it do it”) ((he doesn’t))

asked friends for advice (”should i do it jack? like it’s just following them on instagram, that’s not weird right? ahh but i really don’t know them that well, oh god that makes it weird doesn’t it?” “davey, shut up and hit the damn follow button, jesus christ…”)

wasted all that time planning out the perfect way to ask you out only just to blurt it out after accidentally bumping into you in the hallway
