A Journal Entry #1: "The Fire That Keeps Us Alive: Dreams Beyond the Ladder" | Written By: Solellie ✍🏻
Growing up, I always asked myself, How do people truly live? How can they say they've lived rightly? That they've lived sufficiently? That they've lived authentically—in the way they truly wanted?
But then a moment hits you, You chose how you lived. People choose their own paths. You choose your passion. You choose what you're willing to die for.
In reality, though, some experience the opposite—due to a lack of options, practicality, or settling for what's available. Life is so complex; it's fascinating and ironic. In this country, if you're just someone clinging to the lower rungs of the ladder, they tell you, "Hanggang diyan ka lang" (That's as far as you'll go). Those hit with cruel phrases, judgments, and underestimating comments are seen as limited—limited in choices, dreams, and potential. Rarely are they recognized as agents of change, as standouts brimming with ability.

But for those at the top, the elite of the ladder? They hear, "Marami kang pwedeng marating" (You can achieve so much). Honestly, they have the means to choose, to be limitless, to turn possibilities into reality. Even skills and talents can be bought into position with money—they never have to settle for less, surrounded by endless chances.
That's the sad reality of life. Sometimes, the world is not on our side. But I hold onto that line from the book and series Anne with an E: "Dreamers change the world." It's not wrong to dream big for yourself, to aim high despite scarce options. As they say, "Libre lang mangarap" (Dreaming is free). But if you want it, you can make it happen.
Dreams are what ignite your soul—they burn you, keep the fire alive in your heart and mind. They scorch the chaos, the norms, the standards, fueling you to chase what makes you eager to live. They reveal what you're truly capable of, no matter your options. Don't let people stop you or box you in with "You're just there." Make your mark. Put a period on doubt.
Dreamers are the ones who search and wander until they find the true essence of living. You are your own anchor, the only one who sets your destination, draws your line, and writes your end. So when you finally see it, maybe. just maybe—you can say from your own lips; "I've truly lived my life to the fullest."
