Steve & his lil bat buddy go on an adventure
From my fic "Living In A Lunar Spell"
“Can I trust you not to try to fly around the car while I’m driving?” Steve asks Batty as he carries him out to the Beamer. It’s already a beautiful sunny day, and Steve has the tiny furball cupped between his palms, shielding Batty from the light. He shifts so that he’s holding Batty against his chest while he unlocks the car. For some reason, Batty takes that as an invitation to try to climb Steve’s shirt, his claw hooking into the breast pocket as he pulls himself up. “Hey, woah! Don’t stretch out the fabric!” Steve protests, looking down at Batty. He’s lucky he’s so damn cute though ‘cause Steve can’t be annoyed at that sweet face, especially when Batty chirps at him, and then tucks his face toward the pocket. “Oh, you want to go in my pocket?” Steve swears to god the damn bat nods at him. Holy shit, am I turning into Doctor Doolittle? Either this bat is way too damn smart for his own good, or Steve has somehow developed the ability to communicate with animals ‘cause it’s freaky sometimes the way it seems like Batty actually understands what he’s saying. Batty tumbles face first into Steve’s pocket, back legs and butt hanging out as he wiggles around, squeaking up a storm. Finally, he manages to get himself turned around, his little head poking out, fluffy hair around his face rumpled from his little excursion. “You done?” Steve sasses down at him, grinning when Batty sticks his tongue out at him. “Alright twerp, let’s roll.”
