There were three things that Keith was absolutely certain of in this moment.

     1. Being cooped up in a space castle all the time kind of sucked     2. Seeing the same group of people constantly in that space didn’t help     3. He was probably LOSING HIS DAMNED MIND.

The red paladin hadn’t even a clue how things escalated to this moment. Some words were said and taunts were exchanged and that was normal between he and Lance. Them being a bit antagonistic was expected, as well as goading each other into stupid little competitions.

For all intents and purposes everything should’ve been normal, right?

WRONG.

Lance just kept talking and teasing and usually Keith could deal with it but as indigo hues flit quickly between that constantly moving mouth and piercing blue eyes he was faced with a decision. A thought crossing his head that might get the blue paladin to shut up for once in his life and then maybe Keith could win this argument- whatever it was about he couldn’t even keep track anymore but still, it was the principle that mattered here.

One second there was the usual babbling but in the next he’d reached out and grabbed Lance’s face and smashed their lips together because for some reason THAT MADE SENSE and maybe it wasn’t even the most horrible thing in the universe for him to do but as soon as it happened he’d pulled back and stared wide-eyed with a bright blush staining his cheeks because: seriously Keith, WHAT THE QUIZNAK?

If Lance had words to say after that Keith didn’t hear them because he was up on his feet and sprinting out of the room as fast as his legs could carry him until he knew he was far enough away to collapse against the wall and attempt to breathe again. Suddenly those three things he thought he knew were very different than before.

     1. Being cooped up in a space castle all the time still kind of sucked     2. Lance’s mouth wasn’t so bad when it was pressed against his     3. He wanted alien debris to puncture this part of the ship and SPIT HIM INTO SPACE.

Blinks as Lance hands him a rose and smiles as he took it. “Thanks.. No ones given me a flower before..” It was a kind gesture, he appreciate it. Reaching for the other Keith pulled the blue paladin into a hug.

The question drew a frown on their face. It was clearly visible that there was the slightest conflict as what they would do, the truth spell ultimately forcing the answer out of them. “I’d– I’d save you. I can probably replicate that computer or find another, but I can’t replace a friend’s life.”

Lance sneaks into Keith's room and leaves a round peppermint candy on the pillow. It's not like it's special or anything, not because he felt guilty, and /definitely/ not because he thought about the mullet-head. . . Even if it was one of the last treats from home he had, which the blue paladin discovered it in one of the many pockets of his jacket. Pleasant surprises all around!

When he returned to his room, the first thing he did was taking a shower. He would have never told anyone, but he got lost in the castle’s lower levels and he needed a solid two hours before figuring out which way led where.

His legs were sore from all the stair-climbing. At one point he swore he went upstairs but ended up on a lower level. Castle-ships. One can never trust them.

He towel-dried his hair and changed into some kind of Altean pajamas (after the princess saw him sleeping in his daytime clothes, he was given these instead), and then he crashed into his bed.

“Ouch.” It did not hurt as much as surprised him, when his forehead came in contact with something small and hard on his pillow. He pushed up himself with elbows flared out and looked down on the culprit.

Wait a minute… He knew this brand. Was this a sweet from Earth?! But how?

He tilted his head to the right, thinking. Someone must have tried to cheer him up, and it definitely succeeded, but there was still one obstacle between him and true happiness.

And this was the identity of the secret santa.

“Ah,” he enclosed the candy in his grip and fell back on his pillow, tired.

“It must have been Hunk. What a great guy.”

This one smelt of food. 

If anything got his attention fast, it was food. Perhaps that was the only reason tracking the stranger was worth it, skittering quickly through the tall grass. It’s not like he was very quiet about it. The stuff moved and rustled loudly, sending a few native animals and insects skittering everywhere. 

So what? There was food!
