୭ ˚. MON CHEROI STIMBOARD
While brainstorming a ship name for cherie-crashing-brent-sophist, I discovered something neat! There's a tree called 'king cherry'!
And it's Korean!
Can you feel the teeth in my mouth
Gnashing between the doubt on your tongue?
I'll never be the person you wanted me to be
I'm sorry that you're seeing me like this
I swear I'm trying my best
Even I care
Crisis, a nightmare
Stuck in my head while she lies there alone
okay im being so honest but i entirely missed the mon cheroi and their child saga so im just scouring blogs rn lol but if anyone knows a point where i could start that’d be great 👍
edit: ok im caught up and BRUHHHHHH THIS AU IS INSANE LITERALLY NOBODY IS HAPPY 😭😭
How does Crashing feel about Brent? Well, that's a surprisingly hard question to answer.
There's, of course, a base level of respect for him as the future King of Skill.
Brent is calculating and intimidating. It's easy to see why Cherie fell for him, and Crashing will always trust Cherie's judgement above all else.
But they are also filled with jealousy, jealousy because he got what they have always wanted. More than just Cherie, he has money, power, respect...
What did he do to get everything they have ever wanted? Why can't they have that?
It's frustrating to say the least.
What started as a small sense of hatred lighted up the moment Cherie finally told them the truth, how their entire marriage was arranged and that Brent never loved her or their son...
To them, Brent was handed the world but chose to cry over a rebel who probably never cared... And they hate him for that.
Cherie, someone who was so caring, funny, strong, lovely... Someone like her deserved something better than him, something better than them.
His eyes upon your face His hand upon your hand His lips caress your skin It's more than I can stand!
Why does my heart cry Feelings I can't fight You're free to leave me But just don't deceive me And please Believe me when I say I love you
Guess who's back! I'm here with another song!(get ready to set that "Days Since Weight Of The Crown Brainrot" counter back to 0 >:3) Today's song is Deep in the High by Charming Disaster! For no reason whatsoever, totally not what I was thinking of when I saw the Cherrie (FREE MY GIRL😭) and Brent post.
You caught a break for a little bit, but the angst WILL be back -🔮
This post is now certified The Weight of the Crown brainrot!
Jokes on you, 🔮anon, that thing stays at zero. If the brainrot's still around in a month, I might have an idea for April Fool's Day.
"Give me a kiss before I'm to go"
Okay, so I had to pause the song. This is literally the first line and already I'm thinking of the balcony scene. It can be done so literally with Sophist wanting a kiss before he leaves, but it can also be Brent asking for one last moment of happiness before he has to live the rest of his life as king, forced to make enemies of the one person he cares more about deeply than anything.
--
🔮anon, I'm literally sitting here trying to process this song. Like, I actually have to give it a second listen.
It's just such a perfect comparison to have Brent's duty as a king be compared to a performance, a circus act that he has to put himself through for the sake of the audience, for the sake of his kingdom.
Originally, I was listening to this song from the king of soph perspective, but listening to it from the mon cheroi perspective is also interesting.
This song is them fighting.
"Now, I know a couple things (Oooh) There's our life in the ring (Oooh) Then there's the life that you live (Oooh) You've grown cold and distant (Oooh) It's making me desperate (Oooh) Something is going to give (Oooh)"
This song is Cherie's wake-up call, her realization that something's wrong. At first she thinks it's from the stress of the coronation and the stress of the rebellion, but she can tell there's something else in the way he's slowly losing the light in his eyes even when things seem to be turning around for the kingdom.
"Beware the snake charmer with the lazy green eye She's a hotheaded harpy with a murderous mind"
Oh hey, Cherie found the letter!
This is where things slowly start to click into place for Cherie, where she realizes that did he never love her, but that he fell for the enemy of the kingdom. There's definitely bitterness there.
"It must have been madness when we were wed (Oooh) The liquor of passion gone straight to our heads (Oooh)"
Oh hey we learned how prince of skill was made.
And there's seriously just an entire verse of Cherie just yelling at Brent. She didn't deserve this, but the least he could've done was be honest with her. She meant it when she said she loved him, and now they're stuck together with a kid having to rule the nation unless they want to risk their lives, the lives of their families, and the stability of the kingdom just for even a chance at happiness.
And where would she even go? What would she even do if Brent really did decide to run off with Sophist one day, if he decided to snap and become an enemy of his very own kingdom?
Obviously she should run into the loving hands of her servant.
