“I see, well I’m here for the same reason than. How about I join you?” Standing beside them All Might took in the fresh air for a moment even admiring the clear sky, they were right, it was lovely out tonight.
“You know, you don’t have a very convincing face when you lie however I won’t pry, just know if you feel like talking I am here too listen.”
“Keegan, your essay you turned in last week was on FIRE! You had some really strong counter-arguments and I was really feeling what you were putting down. There’s plenty of ‘zines online that would love to have something similar.”
He complimented with a proud looking grin, not so subtly mentioning the online magazines. He always encouraged those that had the abilities to- to publish.
As the flower is placed within brightly colored curls, Emery lets out a laugh. “How does it look, Kirishima?” They ask with a bright smile, hand gently reaching to touch the petals lightly.
“Any specific reason or did you just sense that I needed something to make me smile?”
“Oh, just cuz. Thought it might looks nice.” Kirishima couldn’t help but snicker a little, even as he had taken a moment to admire how the bloom looked, nestled in the other’s hair. And yeah, maybe even feel a bit of happiness in having brought a smile to their face, too.
“And to absolutely no one’s surprise, it looks pretty darn good! Knew you'd be the perfect one to rock it!”
As if the other hadn’t spoken, the boy continued to climb the tree, lips pursed in concentration.
“Ei-chan, c’mon, you’re gonna fall…!”
A little higher up, too far to be tugged back down.
“Just leave it, you’re gonna get hurt…!”
“Almost…!” Eijirou grit his teeth as he reached out a trembling hand, fingers just brushing against the branch. “…got it…!” Through heart-pounding fear, through shaking breaths, it was replaced as relief flooded through his body, a sigh in relief leaving him as he grasped it. He looked down at his best friend, grinning brightly.
“I’m fine, Tomocchan!”
The other boy wrung his hands, even if he looked just as relieved. “C-can you get my rocket then?”
“I know I can!” Eijirou responded proudly. Maybe even a little nervously, he started to get a little queasy the longer he looked down. He took a deep breath then carefully kept climbing, crimson eyes seeking out the toy. Where did it go–?
“I think Ryo-nii threw it over there!”
Eijirou looked down briefly, gritting his teeth. Oh man, he really was so high up now…! “O-okay–”
He was really starting to lose confidence, worse, he was starting to really get scared. Sweat-slick fingers curled around the next branch, a yelp bursting from his lips when he felt himself slip briefly, but managed to hold on tight even still. “Haa…haa…!” Blood roared in his ears as he hung his head, eyes shut tight as he tried to calm himself. Oh, this was a bad idea, this definitely had been a bad idea, he had to get down fast–
“Can you see it?!“
His eyes flashed open.
“Ei-chan?”
He opened his mouth, but the words caught in his throat.
“Ei-chan, are you okay?”
No…no, he couldn’t lose his nerve now! Itsumi was counting on him to get that rocket, he said he would! The Crimson Riot wouldn’t back down in a situation like this. So neither would he!
He was scared, but he could do it!
Eijirou lifted his head, gaze darting around. Come on…come on…!
He didn’t know how long it took, maybe a few seconds, maybe minutes, it felt longer, but he finally set sights on the brightly colored toy nestled precariously among leaves. “There!”
“You see it?!”
“Yeah! Yeah, I found it!” Taking a deep breath once more, he made his way close to it. Careful…careful…! He reached out again, fingers just touching it.
“You can do it, Ei-chan!”
Little brows furrowed in determination. Just a little more…! “Got it!” The triumphant cry had his friend cheering loud. Chest puffing out in pride, he laughed as he began to make his way down. “Here I go!”
“Oi, Ei-chan, you can just toss it down–”
“No way!” Eijirou looked down, flashing Tomo a grin. “I’ll hand it to ya, no worri–”
His heart stopped.
Climbing up with two hands had been tricky, but if he had one occupied? His grip hadn’t been enough to stop him from falling when his foot had slipped from the branch. A sharp cry in fear, “SUZU!” left his lips as he felt the air rush past him, eyes closing shut in fear and he held the rocket tight…
…then realized the shock of pain he’d been expecting never came once he landed.
Tear-lined eyes tentatively opened, then widened in seeing his savior. Relief took the place of the heavy fear, a grin spreading on his lips. “Tomocchan! Your Quirk…!”
His friend–now the height of an adult–beamed brightly, just as teary-eyed. “I gotcha!” Then his face shifted to one in pain. “Ugh, my tummy…!” He crumpled to his knees, Eijirou tumbling from his arms. His body shrank back to his normal size as his arms wrapped around his stomach.
Pursing his lips, he held out the rocket. “Here. I’ll carry ya! Okay?” Once his friend nodded, he moved to pick him up. Awkwardly, he helped his friend stand a little hen turned bending to let him onto his back. Once he was finally able to hold him up the best he could–even if Tomo complained how much it hurt his tummy to be jostled around, even a little–Eijirou began to head back to his house. “We’ll be there soon! Just hang on!”
“You’re the best, Ei-chan,” Tomo mumbled, leaning over to press a kiss to his cheek.
Eijirou felt his chest puff out a little, pleased with the praise. “Couldn’ta left ya without your rocket, Tomocchan! Or all alone! You’da done the same for me!”
“I’m not as brave as you,” Tomo said, shaking his head. He held on a little tighter. “It musta been so scary up there.”
It was. “Nothing’s too scary for me!” he declared. “Especially not if it means helping ya!”
A giggle. “Thanks. You’re a real hero.”
“Your hero?”
“Heh, yeah. My hero.”
There was a bit more bounce in Eijirou’s steps as he finally reached his home. He was a hero. Even if he ended up getting scolded for climbing the tree and falling. He was a hero. He made his friend happy, even if he did end up with an aching tummy at the end of the day. But he was happy.
