2013 women's yukata by Tokyo designer Morinaga Kunihiko's brand Anriarelji/ANREALAGE (the fashion house's name suggests a play on the English words "an unreal age") Kunihiko designs mostly Western style clothing but this yukata is an experiment with its form (the designer's Spring/Summer 2013 collection theme was Bones or structure)
Note the edgy styling by Sota Yamaguchi...the model's arms are not going through the sleeves of the yukata and there's a Western style dress being worn beneath the yukata. It's fascinating, monotone chic, maybe the ideal yukata for a fan of all things Goth.
Solid black traditional clothing in Japan is usually thought of as mofuku or mourning wear, but this doesn't feel all that sober. Interesting.
