people have discussed that maybe the parents shown in the trailer are the protagonists parents but i don't see how that makes any sense. The games are places a couple hundred years after the bombs feel aren't they? And the protagonist comes from a vault, therefore the parents shown when the bomb dropped couldn't possibly be the parents

Fallout (the first game) takes place 84 years after the war, yes.
