Thank you to everyone who came out to the first day of the #minsanitypopshop! When I first painted my Dolly Collector piece, I asked fans to send in pictures of their favorite childhood toy, and the painting became this huge collaboration of comfort and happy childhood memories. It’s a piece I particularly love because the entire backstory of the piece can only be truly known if you put us all together in one big room. When I made the mixed media sculptural piece, I wanted to give people a chance to BRING their own favorite toys into the Gallery to make their own personal Dolly Collector pictures in their own evolution of the piece. It was so fun to see all the toys that came into the gallery today to get their pictures taken! Minsanity will be open again tomorrow from 12-3pm if you couldn’t swing by today and wanted to score one last chance to be part of the Dolly Collector piece! #monstergallery #mabgraves #dollycollector #miniatures #artandtoys #memories

Here are a few shots from my #childrenofthenephilim opening Saturday night! My brain still seems to be sluggishly simmering in a jar of jelly, so I’m feeling rather slow getting back up to speed. My body clock is still on 4-hour sleep mode! I have about a bazillion emails I need to catch up on, messages and questions...so if you’ve contacted me in the last few weeks - thank you for your grace! Pardon me now, while I curl up and hide under a seashell #hermitemotions #nervcited 😓💕The hardest part of my job is the show openings. It’s just a few hours a few times a year, but if you’re an introvert, you know what I’m talking about. Most days, I’m completely alone about 70% of the time...I go weeks without leaving the house - sometimes I’ll go days at a time without even going down the stairs. My studio is my little sanctuary and leaving can feel scary. For the past few years I’ve been so sick and my immune system has been so totally worn thin from the fight that any exposure (even just going to the grocery store or the post office!) would risk me picking up whatever was floating around and leave me sick for days on end. My immune system is worlds stronger now, but my mind still has a ways to go to trust my body and quell the anxiety of being in public situations. I got the promo cards for my upcoming solo “The Children of the Nephilim” (November 4th!) and I’m feeling ALL the feelings. This series was started three years ago when I began to get really, truly SICK. Every brush stroke was driven through the pain by passion, until the pain (Stage 4 Endometriosis for newcomers) was so bad I couldn’t even sit up in the studio without bleeding and throwing up. The panic of being stuck in bed, 20 feet away from my studio and knowing I didn’t have the physical or emotional strength to give my Children what they needed nearly brought me to the darkest place. My dumb, derpy Dinokitties saved my spirit in the months (year) I was too sick to paint. Now that I’m back in the studio finishing these precious pieces my throat closes at the thought of them ever leaving me, and my heart flutters with love every time I look at them. I can’t wait to share my sweet creatures with you. #Nervcited doesn’t really fit this feeling... #nervsplosion? #exiteous?
