Within the Nera River Park in the southern part of Umbria is Montefranco, an ancient village perched on a high hill at 414 metres above sea level. There's no doubt that Umbria makes a pretty postcard. I've travelled extensively around the region, both this year and in 2017. But just when I thought I'd seen it all, I stumbled across Montefranco before revisiting Arrone (see my previous post). There's something truly enchanting in these little villages with their winding medieval streets, old churches and rich architecture. It just goes to show that Umbria is a treasure trove of exploration that allows visitors to avoid getting swept up by the tourist traps and instead to delve into the unknown. Furthermore, for those who'd like to take up a new sport or hobby, there are many opportunities for natural and adventurous outdoor activities in this neck of the woods (pardon the pun!) such as rafting, white water rafting, free climbing and canoeing. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: Few buses actually stop at Montefranco. Those that do are on the E621 line run by BusItalia, departing from the bus station in Terni. It's definitely worth visiting Arrone as well, about a half-hour trek downhill from Montefranco. ______________________________________ #Montefranco #Italia #Italy #Alluring_Villages #BeMoreItalian #EnjoyItalyResponsibly #Italy_Illife #Raw_Italy #JustGoShoot #NatGeoTravel #WorldTravelPics #Map_Of_Italy #Umbria #UmbriaTourism #CuoreVerde #LetMeItalianYou #Italian_Trips #TravelGreen #ItalyTravel #Italy_Hidden_Gems #HuntGramItaly #CondeNastTraveller #BBCTravel #GuardianTravelSnaps #InstaItaly #Ig_Italy #MeraviglieItaliane #ItaliaMiPiaci #ItaliaNeography #ItaliaStyle_Borghi (at Montefranco) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHspHRWFPsn/?igshid=1jidcrhukg1tl
