Izzie is fully aware of how good-looking she is ("I'm a pretty girl ... that's just a fact.") and has deliberately used it to her advantage in a world where she knows she will be objectified (modelling to pay for med school).

Addison is semi-aware of how good looking she is but it still takes her by surprise every time it's brought up to her because in her mind, she's still a band geek with braces and a lisp. Her good looks are a disadvantage in her head because she feels she will be taken less seriously as a doctor for them.

I’m sorry but Alex Karev is such a cockblocking (lesbian) filler character. He’s a great character in my opinion and I really like his arc but when it comes to who he’s shipped with, man! Get out of the way of montstevens happening pleaseeee. Him being used to feed Izzie’s ‘monster’ in the earlier seasons was not half the enemies to lovers Addie and Izzie could have been they had so much chemistry back then and then later he gets with Addison for no reason other than telling us that Addison had the capacity to fall for someone who was on her service, who noticed her all the time and tried hard to learn from her, aka IZZIE if Richard hadn’t told her to manipulate her. We could have had montstevens end game in SEATTLE. Richard is the real op of greys anatomy and in this essay I will

The song actually works both ways because Addison is taking Izzie's ruthless optimism in the face of adversity at face value and Izzie is recognising Addison's overwhelming kindness and gentleness in the face of a cruel world in this essay I will- (gets dragged away for rattling the bars of my enclosure).

Thinking about the ways Addison and Izzie view love and express affection.

How Izzie loves loudly, unabashedly, and with her full chest.

How Addison loves quietly, softly, and with all her cards on the table between them.

Thinking about Addison & Izzie at Joe's when Addison is holed up drinking in a coffee-stained hoodie and a bucket hat and Izzie drops off the two baskets of muffins she's just stress-baked.

The way Izzie flinches as Addison calls her Dr Stevens and the way Addison makes a self deprecating joke about not being Mrs Shepherd.

The way they're at their lowest points and can understand each other in such a brief interaction.

The way Izzie suggests Addison have a muffin to sober up and tells Joe not to let her drive as she walks away, genuine concern leaking into her monotone voice.

"I may be beyond help."

"Yeah. Me too."

I think the main reason I like the idea of Addison & Izzie together so much is because in upbringing they are polar opposites but as adults (emotionally more than professionally but tbh also still professionally) they're cut from the same cloth. They both claw and fight and cling to love and affection and feel everything with their whole selves, hearts on their sleeves.

Izzie loves Christmas because it was the one time of year she didn't feel like the tiny little bubble she was in was suffocating her because even if they lived in a trailer park and her mother was spending too much money on her psychic (again) and her father was nowhere to be found (again) they still had each other.

Addison loves Christmas because it was the one time of year Bizzy wasn't breathing down her neck and The Captain wasn't making her an accomplice in his affairs because it would ruin appearances and for a small pocket in time it actually felt like they were a family.
