i'm not gonna be biased this time; maybe he really copied them quotes. anyways, getting mad for him using quotes from poetry is simply bullshit. how many idols, no matter the nationality, use metaphors and sentences from poems? i think he got 'inspired' by them instead of really getting into plagiarism. anyways, next time, he better ask before he uses those lines! :(
I agree with most of what you said. I do think the poetry was a bit ridiculous, but the tweets and song lyrics are much harder to defend. I was pretty upset when I first saw all the evidence, since it’s pretty concrete, but I am hoping that it was just a terrible oversight and not blatant theft. I don’t think Namjoon would do that, especially since he’s more than intelligent enough to know the repercussions and I don’t think he would be foolish enough to risk that. But I do think that the word for word recall is probably due to him writing it down somewhere, or remembering it perfectly, and then forgetting that it had an original source. That’s still pretty negligible, but it’s not like he’s the only person who looked at those lyrics all the way through the production process. There were plenty of other people who looked at those words and never saw a connection. It wasn’t until it was pointed out, by someone at a suspiciously inopportune time, did all the dots connect. Either way, it seems to have mostly blown over already thanks to Namjoon responding as quickly and professionally as he did. Many netizens have already said that they’re over the issue because of how Namjoon reacted, and didn’t try to hide behind his company. Namjoon’s apology tweet was taken down and so I hope that means that the issue was resolved amongst the offended parties, and that that’s the last we’ll hear of it.
