The house was built in the 13th century and now is home to Hertogenbosch or Tourist Information Centre, with a bar located in the basement. The Moriaan was built in 1220 by duke Hendrik I Van Brabant. In this time, more buildings where built in this shape. Nowadays, these buildings can no longer be recognised as such, or demolished. In 1965 the municipality of ' s Hertogenbosch wanted to break down the Moriaan to make room for traffic. However, this plan was refused by the minister. In the '60 of last century, the Moriaan was restored completely.
