[abuses my mod powers to submit this after the due date] I wrote this as a gift fic for @byrdsofthenyte, who requested a horror story via Talon. In this fic, Jason makes a deal with the devil and gets more than he bargained for. It was a blast to write and inspired me to read a lot of Stephen King and Poppy Z. Brite. If you like horror, hate cops, and crave a bit of tsundere and a lot of violence, this story is for you.

I think about this series and I want to Scream about how good it is. It is so goddamn painful, and your heart just breaks for the dehumanizing way Dick thinks about himself, and the way Roman takes advantage. Mori expertly utilized this time period of Dick's canon, and both fics in the series have you holding your breath, unable to pull away. Can't rec highly enough!!!

tell me about baby + dog + jason!

Jason’s on a solo mission (somewhere that’s not in North America) when he gets lost in a forest that definitely has magical elements to it. After a couple of days spent walking aimlessly, he follows the sound of a dog barking, which is how he finds a village still partially in flames. There are corpses everywhere and clear signs of ransacking.

He finds the dog by the entrance of one of the only standing houses. When he goes inside to see if there are survivors, he finds a pregnant young woman, mortally wounded, and she begs him to save her baby and take them away from the village before “they” return. So yes, Jason performs an impromptu caesarean operation on a dying woman. The baby lives. He leaves the village with the baby safely bundled in his arms, the dog following him and helping him find food, and only after rescuing the baby does he find his way out of the forest.

More stuff happens but I’m not saying anything else >:-)

If I could only use two words to describe this fic they would be "Raw Beauty". This beauty and rawness can be seen in every aspect of this fic, from the scenic descriptions to the emotional states of the characters. The way that Morimaitar breaths life into Gotham through his writing will transport you there and make you never want to leave. Jason is so emotionally messy in this fic and the Mori depicts this masterfully. Never have I ever read a fic that has made me feel so deeply and profoundly. In a way, this fic is pure poetry and it's dark beauty will leave you entranced.

I loved this work because it was fucking gorgeous. I don't even have the words to describe it. morimaitar's writing style is practically hypnotizing. The descriptive imagery and the way they write Jason's pain, both physical and emotional, has me reeling every time. set fire to my lungs is very aptly named, it pretty much does exactly that while you're reading, because I barely remembered to take a breath while I read it 😂
