An old silver Berber egg pendant bead, symbolising fertility, which would have originally been part of a necklace, possibly with amber and coral beads. Circa early 1900s to 1940s From the Southern part of Morocco. £110.00

My research indicates this is a very early pendant. It comes from the region just south of Agadir -the port of Massa, so old that it had once been a Phoenician port. Thousands of years ago the Phoenicians had ports up and down the coast. Tangier was one of their settlements. Their designs can be found to influence Berber jewelry and this would have been in a necklace of eight strung with coral…

This is an early 20th C pendant, either for a head ornament or for the center of the chest to join the fibulae. It bears the enamel work and design of the Tiznit area of Southern Morocco. It is a large pendant and it is flat, so not a prayer box. The coins date from 1913. Weight 67 grams £160
