  A tilt of his head and cock of a brow emphasizes the oddity of such a statement. It didn’t sound cocky or boastful, simply factual.

  “And why would that be?” he asked slowly, turning to look up at the man. His arms crossed, eyes flicking to peer into the cavern they had stopped to examine. There had been rumour of beasts living within, though what nobody seemed to know - any who entered the caves never seemed to find their way back out. It was likely Rothalion would be gathering corpses more so than rescuing lost villagers. “Regardless, you would at least be injured - and I have a feeling we’ll be dragging back bodies rather than leading people to safety. I don’t need one more body to carry.”

He was lucky to have Senreth, that elf really did see everything. The recruits with him--before now were not trained soldiers, and neither was Pelle. They were farmboys, apprentices without masters, or in Pelle’s case, just a Keeper without a clan. 

The darkspawn had crossed his peripheral before it was struck down by Senreth. Had he acted any later Pelle feared he might not be himself after long. Of all the ways to go, the Blight was on the top of Pelle’s list of ways he’d like to avoid. Creators the deaths he’d seen caused by such a thing--he wished he didn’t remember them so clearly...

“Senreth...” He called. “Not so harsh.” His request was uttered soft but firm.

“They didn’t see it.” He reminded him. “Warn them, but do not lecture them.” 

Senreth was by all means in his feelings. Pelle could have died, all of them...could have died. The appearance of one darkspawn implied there could be more, they needed to be prepared for that possibility. But they couldn’t be if they didn’t know what to look for or how to see things that weren’t right in front of them. 

But Senreth could tell them.

@mortuusbellator - starter, a first meeting

Rosal finally feels he belongs somewhere, with the Mages’ Collective. All that necessarily matters to them is his understanding of discretion and his generalized disdain for the Chantry. The sorts of magic he specializes in aren’t of particular concern, and so long as it isn’t flagrant, he can practice his blood magic in relative peace. Small odd jobs in exchange for protection is a worthy cause, for him. Anything that keeps him away from the Circle. 

Today, the odd job is in Amaranthine, checking up on someone who doesn’t want to be found, and for good reason. Rosal is in a relatively similar place in life, but he doesn’t find himself pursued by demons as well as Templars in places which he does not belong. 

It is because he is in places he doesn’t belong that he is not looking straight ahead, and as he rounds a corner, nearly bumps into someone. He is dressed as a commoner, a city elf, and in that, his blade is not visible but could be reached for rather quickly. It is an elf, who he encounters, not a shem. Thankful of that, but it means little. He doesn’t apologize for nearly running into this man, and his hand goes to his waist, where the blade is concealed. 

“You ought to be careful,” he warns, trying to diffuse the tension in his own chest of anxiety. “Elves like us don’t belong in this part of town.”

If he had learned anything in his adventures so far, it was things seemed to work out better and smoother if you got to know the people you were fighting along side with. It was easier to get to know some over others. Dorian could talk his ear off as well as Sera and Varric. Solas would happily explain things about the fade and his studies when the inquisitor got curious. Cassandra had been a bit tougher to crack and start getting a friendship going. Getting to know even a little about his comrades also gave just enough distraction to make it bearable.

He’d be the first to admit he hadn’t made much of an effort to chat with the mysterious Dalish that had joined their odd little group. “Senreth, a moment if you don’t mind.” No time like the present. “It could be over drinks if you prefer.”

ooc: muses moods today? Lyrian is feeling very low and upset, but over what I don’t know. Senreth is feeling oddly sensitive and intensely romantic. Help. Na’Elle is feeling very lost and displaced but otherwise rather happy. And Vexx is full of rage and anger but isn’t feeling very well.
