Suppression- Cut for Time/Tone
Notes: Just some little bits that got written but never added into the story because they didn't make the final cut, either because the POV was incorrect, the tone wasn't the vibe in the moment, etc. They're all unfinished little tidbits, and I have left them that way on purpose. I've also included notes I have about the kids since I had a bunch more information that didn't included in the fic
When Katsuki offers to hold reader on the couch so they can get some sleep while Eijirou is away- Chapter 4 (Katsuki’s POV):
The man shook his head and rolled his eyes. “Just move, dumbass,” he insisted, bending over you to pull you forward by the shoulder to roll you onto your side. Climbing in over your legs allowed him to quickly fill the space behind you, and he pulled you back against his chest with an arm over your waist. Katsuki wanted to fix this for you, he needed to. Because you’d done it for him, because he couldn’t see you like this anymore, because he hadn’t stopped thinking about what it had been like to be so close to you the last time. “Go to sleep,” he instructed, doing his best to make it sound comforting, like you could trust him to watch over you, because he would. But he wasn’t Eijirou, he wasn’t good at things like this, didn’t know how to go about it in a way that felt normal, especially given that physical affection from him wasn’t normal. He felt you tense in his hold, like you were unsure, like he’d made you uncomfortable, and Katsuki realized how much of an overstep this was. Sure, he’d gotten the okay from Eijirou, but that didn’t mean shit if you didn’t want him near you like this. He wasn’t your boyfriend, in title or person, so why the hell would he just assume he could provide you the same level of comfort? Something twisted in his stomach, dark and unforgiving as he understood exactly how far outside he was. How distant, how detached he was, even from the two people that mattered the most to him; especially when he knew the way the two of you interacted with each other, and knew how badly he wanted that, too. None of it meant anything if even something so small as offering to hold you made you flinch and tense the way you were in that moment. “Unless I’m making you uncomfortable…”
“No, just,” you took a moment as you searched for the right word to use, “confused?”
Eijirou waking up during Katsuki’s nightmare and watching how the reader handles it- Chapter 5 (Eijirou’s POV):
“…I’ll fucking kill you!”
He could see the fear in your eyes, and though Eijirou had seen what fear for your own safety looked like, this wasn’t it. The way you stared up at Katsuki, grip on the man’s arm like a tourniquet holding back an outpour, you were afraid for him. You had every confidence in your abilities, in your reaction times; you’d practiced plenty at your job, after all. But the reason for the outburst was a mystery to you both, and he could see you trying to piece it together in your own head.
Eijirou watched, awestruck, as you argued with Katsuki. Unable to move, to help, to speak, he watched you cradle his best friend as the blonde wept, exhaustion having taken over after the adrenaline rush. It was your eyes finding his that finally broke him out of his unmoving state.
And you squinted slightly at him, checking on him, before nodding to let him know you had everything under control, and Eijirou, the ever-dauntless pro hero, realized he still had plenty to learn about bravery. He could see the upset in your glassy eyes, in the tension of your shoulders, but you refused to let it slip, refused to allow any of it to fall on Katsuki as he dealt with a torrent all his own. Eijirou couldn’t let you keep sitting in it alone, not when he was right there.
So, he wormed his way closer, began to rub at Katsuki’s back, and hoped that you could see the support, the overwhelming love he felt for you in his eyes. He knew his intentions had been received when he caught the twitch of your lips, almost a smile for the briefest of moments, but he’d take it, nonetheless. As you whispered reassurances to Katsuki, Eijirou joined in, assuring, “We aren’t going anywhere. We’ve got you.”
As Katsuki’s sobs continued, Eijirou could feel your hold on your control slipping. He observed you for a moment as you laid all the way back, eyes unblinking and filling with water as you stared at the ceiling. There wasn’t anything he could do in the moment to convince you to let go, to let yourself cry. You wouldn’t if you felt watched, he knew that. Instead, he pushed closer, pulled your body to his once again, dragging Katsuki along, though you didn’t seem to notice or care, and pressed his forehead to your temple as you remained unmoving.
“You did great, sweetheart,” he reassured, nuzzling a bit more into you. He felt a squeeze on his forearm, a silent communication of gratitude and love the two of you used regularly when words became too much. He squeezed back and settled, hoping to fall asleep quickly so you’d have the privacy to cry in his arms.
Katsuki and the reader making dinner together after confessions- Chapter 6 (Reader’s POV):
The pair of you made dinner together, the air lighter than it had been for a while, but there was something new there too. It was crackling in the air, in the weight of his gaze every time you felt it land on you, in the way you caught him blushing every time you looked at him too long. “What’s next?” you asked, turning to him as you cleared your cutting board into the bowl to your side.
“Peppers,” he answered after briefly looking over the countertop.
As he held the bag of them out to you though, an idea popped into your head, and a frown covered the lower half of your face.
“I don’t know how to cut them.”
“What?” the same word, repeated, only incredulous and disbelieving now as he continued his own prep work. “The hell are you talking about? Just dice them like always, dumb- uh, weirdo.”
You laughed slightly at his bailout on the insult but slid past it to continue with your plan. “Yeah, I don’t think I remember. You might have to show me.”
“Show you? What the fuck are you-” but he stopped when he saw the way you were looking at him, expectantly, with an eyebrow cocked and a devious smirk on your lips.
“Kats,” you beckoned, letting your voice drop to a nearly suggestive tone as you motioned him over. “Come show me.”
It took only a moment for him to close the space between you, though you could tell he was trying not to look too eager. “If you wanted me to hold you, you could have just said so,” he snarked, but his arms wrapped around you just the same, hands gently cradling your wrists as his chest pressed to your back. “Better?” he questioned, breath brushing past the shell of your ear as he spoke and you shivered involuntarily. The chuckle you felt vibrate in his chest would have been an indication of danger if you had been paying enough attention. Instead, you fell victim to his scheming, breath hitching when he pressed you to the kitchen counter, lips grazing the skin at the junction of your neck and shoulder when he instructed, “Little more pressure… back and forth, just like that.”
You were thoroughly flustered by the time the peppers were cut, heat covering your face and neck, and pulse beating far quicker than it should have been whilst standing almost perfectly still.
“Got anything else you want to pretend you can’t do by yourself?”
Profile Notes for the kiddos:
Teiou Kirishima (she/her):
Quirk: Quirk Deactivation Pulse which functions a bit like an EMP centered on her that she can activate in time with her own heart rate. The waves of suppressive energy compound each time a person is hit with a new wave, which results in stronger and longer lasting effects. As a child, Teiou needed to release several waves in a row to fully erase a person’s quirk, but trained the ability to have a larger area of effect and be able to fully incapacitate a person’s quirk in just one wave. She also discovered as a teenager that continuing to pulse with stronger waves would cause people around her to faint. Further training revealed that pushing her quirk hard enough could make the waves an explosive, almost tangible force useful in blowing back enemies
Hero name: Blackout (name comes from a comment made by her homeroom teacher in first year about her making everyone “blackout” and she thought it sounded rad and like she’s super strong)
Through her entire childhood, Teiou’s favorite activity was training. She loves the pursuit of further strength and power, and while she has a temper much like Katsuki’s, she remains kind and thoughtful, especially with those she cares for.
As the eldest of the family, she was the first to get certified and begin working as a hero, though she did also go to college to study the genetics of quirk manifestation, mostly driven by a desire to understand why some parental quirks blend together, some mutate, some are unchanged when passed down, and sometimes none are passed down at all.
As an adult, Teiou has a deeply committed long-term relationship with a woman, and the two are considering adopting a child together.
Ryuji Kirishima (he/him):
Quirk: Shifting Aura which in his early years is essentially a bubble that extends about a meter in any direction from his body which can dampen a person’s quirk or senses. He discovered accidentally whilst defending his sisters that the bubble could also be used as a shield, and from there continued training to eventually find that the bubble could be expanded to a range of up to 10 meters in any direction, and could be used in varying degrees, up to and including entirely shutting off a person’s quirk or senses, or being used as an impenetrable shield. He develops incredible control over the quirk and is able to easily able to adjust his range and severity, as well as quickly switch between functions as needed.
Hero Name: Paladin (given to him by his (now) wife, only friend at the time, because when describing his quirk to her, she claimed it reminded her of a Paladin’s aura ability in D&D)
Ryuji has always been fairly level-headed with a generally happy disposition. He is very difficult to anger unless the slight is directed to his family or friends, as he is incredibly protective of those he loves. He got certified and immediately went into hero work, quickly gaining popularity, at first due to his looks and charm (very Eijirou-esque in this aspect) but was quickly considered an incredible defensive talent and continued to climb hero rankings on merit
As an adult, Ryuji married his high school sweetheart (Riza) and the two are expecting baby number two. Riza is also certified as a pro, but chose to step back from it because she adores being home with their kid(s) and instead now heads the Steady Hands program alongside Akari
Akari Kirishima (she/they):
Quirkless, but incredibly intelligent and strong (largely due to a drive to keep up with/surpass her siblings in their younger years)
She is the CEO of the Kirishima Family Agency which she started after finishing business school, pulling her siblings from their sidekick positions at other agencies to start their own. The agency as a whole quickly gained traction because of the effectiveness of the heroes employed there, as well as the notoriety already afforded to their family. The calculating and always observant young Akari is an incredibly effective head to the agency, and loves to (mostly jokingly) use her title as their boss to win sibling arguments.
Is on record claiming “Underestimated is my favorite thing to be” because she loves the looks on people’s faces when they realize their assumptions about her are wrong.
As an adult, Akari is a bit of a workaholic, still trying to prove to herself that she belongs in the same space as her siblings despite constant reassurance from her family and friends, as well as tangible proof that she is excellent at her job and in other aspects of her life. She does not have a partner, but does have a cat that goes everywhere with her, on a leash and usually riding her shoulders. There is a cat tree (and other supplies) for the little baby in her office at the agency
I imagine her having a best guy friend from university that one random day in her 30s she realizes has always been there and supported and that she feels a deep love for him that she just never noticed because she never let herself slow down enough to notice, and she just turns to him and asks “have you ever thought about what it would be like if we dated?” and his answer is more or less, “I thought we already basically were?”
