@mostlyhxman meme’d for a starter.
It’s almost embarrassing how much comfort a damn neon sign could bring her.
Ten days. It wasn’t unusual for Carrie to spend time away from Diamond City, between the settlements she helped the Minutemen develop and the work she was constantly doing for others, but it was unusual for her to leave unannounced. She might as well have been gone, having spent nearly a week and a half hiding staying in Home Plate. Her body was still store from the Raider attack she narrowly missed and returned to Diamond City to recover from, and the time alone was definitely not good for her.
She felt oddly nervous as she reached to open the door to the agency. Taking a slow breath, she let herself in and tried her absolute best to act as if nothing was out of the ordinary.
“Anyone home?” Blue eyes scan the room and she smiles when she spots Nick. “I see the place hasn’t burned down while I was gone.”
“ What a mess. I knew that Doc Crocker was a crock --- ” And here she’ll pause, because no matter how ridiculous the Commonwealth seemed to be, there was always room for a bit more. A sigh through her nose expels smoke and she taps her cigarette against the ashtray on Nick’s desk. “ Anyway. It’s all taken care of. Any chance your next case file involves a missing kitten or stolen sweet roll? ” / @mostlyhxman ❤’d !!

“I’m trying, I really am.” Instinctively, Nick responded with irritation as the door to his office opened for the third time that day. He had a client who seemed to check back at least twice a day ever since he’d taken her case, and he’d about had it up to his eyeballs. When the detective looked up, however, it wasn’t who he’d been expecting.
The… man? Woman? Ah, he supposed it didn’t really matter– but he’d never seen the person who just walked in.
“Oh, my apologies. Welcome to the Valentine Detective Agency. Can’t say I’ve seen you around before.”
Pandora held up their hands defensively in response to the irritation, an instinct of their own reading as ‘I didn’t do what you think I did. Probably’. Their relief was evident, but soon abandoned in place of their regular confident guise.
“First time in Diamond City, arrived ‘bout a week ago. Haven’t had the chance or reason t’hit the town ‘till now.” Inviting themselves in, they seem to look at everything there is in the office before finally settling their gaze on the detective himself, seemingly unsure if they want to sit down at the desk or not. “This is where I ask somethin’ stupid obvious to confirm whether you’re the Nick Valentine I’ve heard so much about.”
Winter's End

+ Hector (and probably Liz, too) absolutely popcorn the shit out of what’s going on between Nick and Elle. I know I’ve talked to you guys about this on the server but. Hector likes to remain pretty uninvolved in all that nonsense so he doesn’t have to actually deal with any of it personally, but you can believe that between his own lurking in the chat and Liz giving him updates while he fucks around on his phone, he knows 110% of everything that’s happened. And he thinks Nick needs to get his shit together and be straightforward.
+ Getting him involved with stupid, petty, childish wars is a mistake. He’s going to play every side against the other to reap the most benefit for himself. In this case, that benefit is a whole cake to himself and Liz not giving him shit for his terrible eating habits. Also the satisfaction of betrayal.
+ Despite all evidence to the contrary, Hector is ridiculously, stupidly in love with Liz. It’s gross. It’s so gross. I imagine their constant sniping at each other is probably pretty offputting at first, especially for Nick? Until it becomes obvious that’s just how they flirt. Also double dates are a fucking trip (and we need to make that happen).
+ Hector really wishes Elle’s mom had found her damn spine and done her own dirty work herself. He’s attached to Elle in his own special way, even if she’s making him go grey faster than he should be (I theorize he’ll have white streaks before everything is said and done), but in the end, hiring someone to take care of it for her was a mistake and he’s the one that’s paid for it. So Elle’s mom’s on his list.
+ I know we talked about this, too, but: Part of Hector’s reasoning for being in on going after Winter is, yes, because he hates that fuck and is more than happy to see him go down, and is more than happy to be the one to pull the trigger. The other is because he doesn’t have a lot of empathy to begin with, and he certainly doesn’t want to imagine where he’d be mentally if something happened to Liz the way it did Jenny. Especially since in their lines of work the possibility is very real. Again, see point three. He’s viciously, violently protective of his own, and Nick’s mindset with it is alien to him.
Hector drops a sword, a book no one cares about, a cool hat, and 500 doubloons when he dies.
this thing : ??? : @mostlyhxman
You’re grounded.

“I can’t shake the feeling that this is all a mistake.” There was no other way to explain why she made it out of that vault; why she was the lone soul to walk out of there to see the ruins of the life she left behind two centuries ago. It couldn’t have been fate, she didn’t even believe in fate.
She tried to keep it all in the back of her mind, but she could only keep it up for so long.
“I never thought the end of the world would actually come. Now I’m here, my old life is nothing but a memory, and it feels like I’m just... I feel so out of place, Nick...”
