I really need my brain to stop trying to murder me every month
the work day whiplash has returned in full force 😔
Last shift tomorrow before Xmas and then a week and a bit off from work and I am EXCITED for this. Okay dreading tomorrow (it'll either be manic and stressful, or manic but fun) and my thumb is still Fucked Up, but other than that and the usual Xmas stress, I'm looking forwards to getting off work for a bit 😭
uagh I have to drag my ass to work when all I want to do is worldbuild
couple of personal headworld/story ideas I just had and need to write down
So I'd been struggling with my fae (basically elves) being too human and uninteresting, and wanting to bring in more animalistic/elemental features to their appearances, but doing so also put some of the story plot points at risk.
But what if there's different classifications/subspecies/morphologies within their species? This would potentially allow some fae to be more human looking (and work for the plot) and allow some to be more fantastical and glamoured.
This could even tie into the courts and houses, with the higher ranks possessing larger attributes, while the common/lower ranks could be more humanoid over all.
Things to consider:
How does this come about? Bloodline? Magic? Environment? Other?
How does this affect social standing? what if a low class has more attributes, does this increase their social class?
For the fae used to infiltrate human settlements, how are their attributes removed, or are they ONLY from the non-fancy subtypes?
How many characters do I need to redraw AGAIN
Second thought
So I had that fic that I loved but really needed to rework, and I've just wondered if it would actually be better to transfer it to my personal headworld instead?
Not 100% sold on that idea, I already have enough on my plate than creating yet another sub story within this world (and having to create more countries and characters and worldbuilding and URGH). But its maybe at least something to consider?
for some reason, my original writing and stories have started rattling around in my brain. I've had headworlds and characters since I was thirteen, and I've been writing since I started creating them, but for some fascinating reason, since I've started writing fic I've started thinking about how much BETTER I could make my OG stories?
Ngl I tend to go through re-write cycles every 4/5 years, so maybe it's just that circling about again, but this feels more than a re-write, more like a complete restructuring and organisation of the worlds and stories?? I'm looking at my main one and thinking that I could push the world to be far more fantasy, I could develop the lore and species to be more unique, and I could break the (extremely long) story into smaller 'books' or expand more on side stories and characters, maybe even push it from "young adult" fiction to "adult" (although that's primarily cause the main characters feel SO goddamn young to me now I'm a decade older than them lmao)
idk it's just interesting how this has cropped up since writing fanfic, rather that when I was CONSTANTLY reading any and all books I could get my hands on
