"Hello! New to the Fandom and was wondering if you had any head cannons for how the ghouls use their elements?"
Aether:
The element of space and energy, Aether is a master of manipulation of these aspects, though he normally likes to let things play out on their own
Unlike the other ghouls, he can’t exactly show his element
Which, yes, does upset him a bit because it takes a lot more explaining
And yes, he does get a bit frustrated because it takes a lot of time, so if you don’t have the patience to wait, neither of you are going to have fun
The easiest way he can demonstrate his power is to hook on to your emotions and play around with them
It can be something as subtle as lifting your spirits and giving you some hope, making you have a mental breakdown for no reason, or even making it to where it feels like all of your fears have finally come to light and there’s no escaping them
Along with this, he will also “latch” onto certain emotions from siblings to check in on them, especially if he knows something is going on
Sure, he could lift your spirits with ease, but the problem will still be there. He believes in permanent fixes rather than temporary ones
He can, and normally will, become extremely hostile or even depressed if around too many people that have overwhelming energies
He can also “pull” and “push” people away. This only happens when he’s too nice to tell someone to piss off, or when he’s feeling a little too shy to approach his favorite sibling on his own
Cirrus:
While she’s the element of air, her powers aren’t as harsh as Cumulus’ can be
Her skin is actually warmer than Cumulus, and she can’t exactly create storms like the other ghoulette
She can, however, manipulate how the sun looks and reflects, along with producing small ice crystals
If she has enough energy and it’s cold enough out, she can make bigger ice crystals, which she had used as weapons before being summoned
Her favorite thing to do is to get Sunshine and, with the help of her fire, dance around with her and show off how her ice crystals reflect the light
The last of her powers extend to affecting how people breathe, but it’s not something she can control on her own
Normally the breathing aspect is completely unintentional and is the reason why she has to be in the right headspace to go on tours
If she’s upset or overwhelmed, everyone around her will find it harder to breathe, being worse the closer you are to her
The only one who can help stop her in this state is actually Cumulus, or any other air ghoul if the ghoulette is currently occupied
Because her powers aren’t as catastrophic, she can be open and more carefree with them, so feel free to ask her to put on a show
Cumulus:
Just like the clouds you see, her personality is very soft. However, she won’t always stay like this
She’s one of the scariest when upset, and she’s able to engulf the abbey in dark storm clouds when pushed to her limit
Lightning and thunder will strike and the winds will pick up tenfold
If you’ve made the mistake of making her this upset, she’ll purposefully aim the lightning to strike you, or right beside you as a warning
And you better hope Swiss is around and likes you enough to where he can try and fight against his friend to save you
There’s only been one time where she made it hail, causing damage to both property and sibling
No one remembers what caused her to lose her mind, but everyone remembers to never let her get like that again
She’s able to make clouds that hang overhead and provide shade when it’s warm out, but this greatly decreases whenever temperatures increase
During extreme heatwaves, both Cirrus and Cumulus will pretty much “disappear”. It’s believed that they just find a hiding spot somewhere around the abbey that isn’t known to anyone
One of her little tricks she likes showing off is using wind to carry things to people. This is normally small, light objects that won’t use up too much of her power, such as letters or picks
Mountain:
The most laid-back of them all, Mountain is very in-tune with everything going on around him
Earthquake? He’s already warning you if it’s going to be aggressive and concerning. The little bug that got into your room? Don’t worry, he’s taking it out and softly talking to it along the way. That pesky magpie that’s been swooping you whenever you get too close? He’s already standing in front of you and scolding the bird, which seems to be listening to him
Whatever happens to the grounds of the abbey will also affect him, and vice versa
One of the fire ghouls accidentally sets some grass on fire? Mountain is whining and dousing himself in cold water. But if Mountain is thriving and happy? The garden is in full bloom and in perfect condition
On the off chance that you upset the ghoul, you’ll find the ground rumbling beneath you. The angrier he gets, the more intense the earthquake will become
Just like Cumulus, there has only been one instance of him causing damage because of his rage, having cracked open a piece of the floor in the abbey, leading to a few siblings dropping into the pit below
He normally hides for a while after that, not even coming out to practice
His hiding spot has been found before, deep in the woods where he’ll sit against an old willow tree, gently stroking the tendrils that hang down as he softly apologizes for losing his temper. It’s best to leave him be while he’s doing this
Mountain flips between lazing around or having to move and do something, similar to life. Whatever is happening to nature, Mountain can normally be found doing the opposite, and it’s believed he does this to either get everything flowing again, or he’s trying to calm everything down
On the chance you make this ghoul extremely happy, and he’s touching any sort of land, expect to see fresh new blooms appear. They’ll either be wildflowers or small herbs that you would normally find in that area
Rain:
The first thing you’ll notice are the webs between his fingers and toes, along with the fin at the end of his tail
He’s the best swimmer you’ll ever find, and he’s more than happy to be in water
In fact, this is one of the only times you’ll see him at his peak, if you can find him at all. Like the other water ghouls, and even amphibians, Rain can hold his breath for hours at a time underneath the water’s surface
The only catch is he needs to be submerged in water at least every other day or he’ll dry out and eventually die
Though he doesn’t partake in it often, Rain can make actually make small puddles form, and he can make them move. Like the others, however, the conditions need to be right in order for him to do this
If you’ve made it on his good side (which isn’t hard to do) then expect to notice that the rain won’t touch you if you’re outside, especially if you’re not dressed properly
While he absolutely loves water and being wet, he understands that not everyone else does, and that’s okay
He has, however, made drinks spill on more than one occasion when he’s feeling a little mischievous. But yeah, keep thinking you were just being clumsy. That’s totally it
Rain can cause storms, and they could potentially be severe, but he’s luckily never gotten upset enough to cause any flooding. The most that’s happened was just a downpour, brought on by him and one of the other ghouls not seeing eye-to-eye with something
Please don’t give him anything too cold. It’s very easy for him to actually freeze up, and this will cause damage and hurt him, especially his horns
Sodo:
Like the other fire ghouls, Sodo’s powers can be devastating, especially if he’s become unstable
However, his fire doesn’t burn as hot as the others. While the others can conjure up blue or even white fire, Sodo can only produce red and orange
It’s rumored that he’s part water ghoul, but he refuses to give an actual answer to anything
Still, like the others, he’s easy to upset and he’s been known to burn things in his rage
He can normally produce fire from his hands, a trick he often does alone and away from everyone else when he’s bored, but it’s a different story when his emotions become a mess
At an unstable state, any quick action will produce flames, either from a whipping tail or from him throwing a punch, and smoke will pour out of his mouth like a forest fire
Nobody can remember what happened, but when Sodo was first summoned and fought with one of the other ghouls, a display so dangerous that no one wanted to intervene, it’s said that he actually was able to breathe fire when he let out an ear-splitting screech
He’s never been able to do it again, and it’s not something anyone wishes for him to recreate
He won’t openly admit it, but he actually hates that his fire isn’t as hot as the other ghouls. Please don’t ask him why. He will get upset
If a heatwave can get hot enough, however, he will be able to produce a white flame. At this point, he won’t show it off around the abbey. He’s worried he’ll catch everything on fire and he’s not ready to return to Hell
Sunshine:
She can’t produce flames, but she can produce little balls of light
She doesn’t do it often because she’s very insecure about showing any of her powers, and she doesn’t have anyone else to help her practice pls for the love of Lucifer, give her compliments and hype her up, she needs it
Will go to the gardens daily during winter to give the plants some warmth and light
The happier and more confident she is, the brighter and warmer her balls of light will be
Her body temperature will also go up depending on her emotional state, with excitement and, very rarely, anger being peak heat
The balls will actually float around her, being her own personal lantern
If she concentrates hard enough, she’ll be able to lend them to others to guide them through the dark, so don’t be scared if you see a little ball of light float towards you. She’s just concerned you’ll get lost or trip over something
Sunrise is where her powers are at their peak and she’s more confident in showing off, knowing that her tricks won’t backfire
If there’s a hunter’s moon out, she’ll actually unconsciously draw in all light, making it harder for siblings to see when navigating the abbey
She doesn’t know she does this, so please don’t fault her. It’s natural for ghouls like her to do this, but no one has ever told her and she doesn’t know how to fix it on her own
Swiss:
Everyone’s favorite multi ghoul, he actually can manipulate all of the elements, but only in small amounts
He’s more in-tune with emotions; he’s great with plants; he can make a very small flame appear, but it’s mainly used for lighting cigarettes or burning small items; like Rain, he can make some drinks spill, but it takes a lot more of his energy; if he concentrates hard enough, he can potentially redirect lightning strikes, but this doesn’t always work
The only thing he can’t exactly match is Sunshine’s light display, or the air ghouls and their own tricks
He still tries, but he hasn’t been able to get anything to happen yet
He does, however, seem to have a talent for throwing his voice when needed
Though he doesn’t use it often, it’s a harmless little prank he likes to play on others, and he can be occupied for a good while watching his victim go crazy trying to find out who’s talking to them
Sunshine tries to explain how she makes her balls of light, and they try at least once a week to get Swiss to do it as well. It hasn’t worked yet, but they keep up hope
While he’s able to (sort of) use every element, one of his best features is how well he can actually fix things, or even destroy them to help
Unless occupied, he’s the first ghoul people will call on to fix something that’s broken. Without fail, he always fixes it
When people suggest that his talent is just helping, he’ll simply brush them off and tell them that anyone could easily Google it and do it themselves
Bonus – Special:
Special Ghoul hasn’t made his appearance in a while, but you can still find him lingering around the abbey
He’s able to translate most languages, but he specializes in Latin and Italian (for obvious reasons)
It’s rumored that he actually used to be a death metal singer and that his voice used to raise the dead, but anytime you ask him about it, he’ll just get quiet and excuse himself
While it’s believed that he doesn’t exactly have an elemental power, he does show off his ability to quickly decipher messages in other languages, making it easier to read letters
