i was just happy that i'd be seeing my fav constellations over the next couple of months and then i realized that a majority of that time will be spent in my new home. haha
I feel lucky in a lot of ways to have grown up where I did and when I did. We had TV and internet but we still played outside more often than we didn't. Friends came over after school so we could keep socializing. My neighbors' kids were my neighborhood friends in addition to my school friends. We rode bikes and hung out outside until the street lights came on, and it was safe to do so. We lived an hour from NYC and 30 minutes from the ocean. We'd go to Broadway shows, concerts, museums, art galleries, good restaurants, and we were at the beach weekly all summer long.
Trying to find somewhere like that in 2024 is proving difficult. I don't have the ability to buy a multimillion dollar house. And even if I could, I don't want to live on present-day Long Island where T**** won the districts twice and where my mom's "hate has no home here" flag was stolen. I’d like somewhere a little more tolerant than that.
