Maroteaux-Lamy syndrome (otherwise known as MPS-VI) takes its name from two French Doctors, Dr. Maroteaux and Dr. Lamy, who first described the condition in 1963. These doctors discovered this disorder in Miniature Pinschers before they found it affected human children as well. . It makes you wonder why, if animals were the first to be found with this disorder, are they put on the back burner? We cannot even tell you how many vets are unaware that MPS even exists! There just isn’t enough research to spread awareness. That’s why we need your help. We are so grateful for all the hard work and research that is currently being done, but we need YOU to get the word out and educate the masses about MPS. . Log on to our website at mpsarmy.org and get involved. Print out our flyers to hang in vet clinics or rescues/shelters, host a Facebook fundraiser, or simply use word of mouth! We are always looking for supporters to spread the word. If you can, donate today! Visit the “DONATE” tab on our site! .
