A Nearly Normal Family is a legal/courtroom/domestic thriller from M.T. Edvardsson. Also a #botm pick. It’s about a teenage girl who is on trial, accused of the murder of a former lover. It’s told from the perspective of the father, who’s a pastor - the mother, who is a defense attorney and the accused. Often books will tell a story from different POVs. What different about this book is that each POV is contiguous. We get the father’s story, then the girl’s and finally the mom’s. It does open and close with the murder and the people that were there. This book is about who gets to decide justice and what a parent will do to protect a child. I appreciate when authors try an approach l haven’t seen before. Unfortunately, this book did not work for me. It’s not bad, but just adequate. There are some twists and you don’t know who the killer is until the last page.
