Credence couldn’t be more grateful for the fact that the real Percival Graves was willing to take him in. He was so certain that he would just wash his hands of him and forget the whole situation, but there had been some comfort in knowing that they had both been hurt by the dark wizard. Then he had been understanding, even going against duty to look after the young wizard. Their relationship post-trauma had been described as ‘inappropriate’ and ‘unprofessional’ - but even at MACUSA they couldn’t deny that it was for the best, but only if that was off the record.
Despite his serious nature, he had been soft and tender with Credence, everything that Grindelwald wasn’t and everything Credence had wanted. Yet at the same time Credence was having to cope with the fact that this wasn’t the man he fell in love with. Nevertheless, the creeping feeling kept returning, especially during such moments where he was allowing Credence to lie out on the couch next to him, nuzzling in close and whispering comforting words, letting him know that he wouldn’t be hurt again.
“Thank you, Mr Graves,” Credence said quietly, very gently turning his face in to nuzzle against his cheek. The fact that he hadn’t been pushed away or scolded was heaven, but what truly grabbed his attention was his stubble, his lips, the fact that he could go to prison for getting closer to them when they were right there. He knew he was taking a large risk, but he was taking risks every day he spent with the auror.
He very lightly puckered his lips out, his heart pounding as he only just made contact with the side of Graves’ lips, a terrible feeling of fear coming over him as he pondered what would come next, praying he wouldn’t be upset or angry. Credence couldn’t handle losing him.
