The blood vessels on his face dilated. I wanted to tap to hear them better, but I held back. And then he said, “Rocky, that’s—I mean, doesn’t that seem, uh. Slightly—” He made a noise that I knew meant he was experiencing an emotion he did not want to name. “I don’t want you to think I’m getting off on this—” “Grace.” “—Because it’s not like I’m asking to—” “Grace.” He stopped. “Are you uncomfortable?” There was no better way to confront him than to offer him an exit he didn’t want to take. “We don’t have to—” “I want to,” he said all at once, which was exactly the response I wanted. “I really want to. I’m not—uncomfortable.” He stopped. My alien: so terrible at asking directly for what he wanted. “I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of weeks. I just, y’know. Didn’t think you’d say yes so easily. I kept finding reasons to bring it up, and then I'd—talk myself out of it, and then I'd find another reason…”

I usually hate when reader takes a more dominant role, but suspension of disbelief is so fucking good that it's my one and only exception. I've read it three times already. The way you write their dynamic throughout the entire work is sooooo delicious I can't get enough of it 😭😭😭 thank you for the food
