my biggest undertaking in the sims is nearing completion! I’ve been playing an adapted version of morbid’s ultimate decades challenge in the sims 3 for a decently long while. I’m nearly to the point where my sims immigrate to plymouth. And with that, I needed to build a plymouth.
It hasn’t been a completely from-scratch project, I used a custom world that just had empty lots as my base. Most of the lots I have built from scratch, and a few are modified versions of lots from other creators. But the most important thing to me has been populating the world.
Because this is a history challenge, I wanted the people to be as historically accurate as possible. So I’ve made sims of all the original mayflower pilgrims, following photo and written references where possible for appearance and personality. I’m still in the process of adjusting their ages to line up with how old they all were when they made the voyage, but otherwise they’re all created and housed!
When I’m finished with all the the setup pieces, I’m going to go back and write the lot descriptions and give credit where it’s due. And then I’ll have my very first save file to upload and share!
It’s going to be very sad when I actually start to play, because of course so many of the pilgrims died in the first year. And there, my game is going to diverge from history in that I’ll use dice rolls to see who lives instead of the historical record. I’m excited to see how it will all take shape, and which of my own sims will survive.
