Strangelove helped develop the first hydrogen bomb in the United States and supervised its testing.

Brief history: In 1954, a series of tests were to take place under the general name Operation Castle. The first test, Castle Bravo, went WAY off the rails.

1) Instead of the planned explosion power of 5 Mt, the power was as much as 15 Mt (as a result, the most powerful US bomb)

2) Nearby settlements were not even warned about the tests🤡

3) A Japanese ship sailed near the test, on which everyone later fell ill from radiation sickness👍

Sounds like something Strangelove could do :)))

Overall, I have a lot of fun thinking about his interactions with Muffley before the events of the film, especially when he first came to the presidency.
