Random Musings
Well some people tell you to go for a walk to “clear your head” but mine seems to be wired differently: the process of exercise has my mind wandering and wandering and wandering.
Sometimes I go over conversations I’ve had or expect to have. Sometimes I think of new business ideas. Sometimes it’s the “fuck you” conversation that drives the current exercise regime.
But, more than anything, I love randomness - the strange highways and byways of thought - and having people around you with the flexibility to bounce with you.
I have two bouncers - brother and sister - so maybe the random ways are genetic, but not sure how the gene is settled into our particular DNA, but it is. And I’m pretty glad it is.
chats with my two bouncers include the mug-microwave and the head hoover that can be used after a haircut so that you don’t spend the day itching.
Other random moments with my co-bouncers include the evolution of Bumble Sharks that live underground and only ever come out at festivals - or agreeing the rules for bar tig (and then playing it before hearing the immortal words “oi! you’re barred!”)
Not everyone can grasp or embrace a random thought - like the two guys in Brighton who, when asking for directions, were advised to head for Tudor England, turn right at Henry the Eighth and look out for Elizabeth the First’s pants.
When do the mundane and expected things make us grin more than the random event? Dare I say that, beyond Wedding Day and the birth of your kids, no other planned event really hits the mark?
Impromptu and random rock.
Fortunately, I have three girls who have inherited this important gene!
So that’s me, bro, sis, cheese and three girls (known locally as 'the panda cubs'...) - the magnificent seven.
Smoke us a kipper, we’ll be back for breakfast.
