Fat Hypocritical Coward Swallows Bait
In a turn of events which will shock nobody, @rainy-suggestion takes the bait.
Presumably because she can’t resist even the smallest morsel placed in front of her.
( seeing as how there are multiple studies on how genetics and medicine effect weight, saying that “it’s just what you eat versus how much you use” is bullshit.
Your first “study” isn’t even a link.
Your second “study” is an unsourced opinion piece, which even states “[i]f you consume more energy (calories) than you expend, you will gain weight“, and therefore doesn’t state what you claim.
Your third “study” is also unsourced, and says that the “[Fat Mass and Obesity Associated gene] seems to act as a 'nutrient sensor,' affecting the amount of food a person wants to eat, and their hunger. Therefore, variations in the gene that encodes for FTO could affect the ability of FTO to regulate food intake and lower satiety”. In other words, it still comes down to how much food you consume.
Your fourth “study” is, again, unsourced, but also states “[s]ome drugs might stimulate your appetite. This causes you to eat more and gain extra weight. Some drugs might affect your body’s metabolism. This causes your body to burn calories at a slower rate. Other drugs might affect how your body stores and absorbs sugars and other nutrients.” Which, again, comes down to how much you eat.
There are no genetic conditions and no drugs which create mass from nothing. If you are getting fatter, it is because you are overeating for your metabolic rate; typically, metabolic rates do not vary more than a couple of hundred calories at most, even when drugs are involved.
You need to step up your research game.
I actually don’t eat that much lmao. I average about 1 or 2 meals a day, with a decent amount of what I eat being healthier things like vegetables and meats.
Weight gain is related to amount of food eaten. Going over your TDEE with 1000 calories of broccoli and chicken breast will cause as much weight gain as 1000 calories of ice cream. Similarly, the number of meals is irrelevant; if you eat one meal a day which puts you over your calorie needs, you will gain weight just as easily as if you ate fifty meals.
You’re either lying or severely underestimating how much you eat. Because I just ate bacon and therefore am full of joy, I’m going to assume that you, like most fat people, chronically underestimate.
Eating any less than I currently do would make me unhealthy.
Unlikely, given that you’re overweight.
I would hold more weight eating less, for awhile, because I wouldn’t be getting enough nutrients to run my body, which means it would retain as much as possible for as long as possible.
Oh, look! It’s the old I didn’t eat for ten minutes so I went into starvation mode myth.
Starvation mode exists, but only after months of starvation, and only when the body has used all of its available fat stores.
Your body stores fat as reserves to use when consumption is lower. Think about it - why would your body store reserves against lowered consumption and then hold onto them when consumption is lower? It doesn’t make sense to begin with, and you’re just using it as an excuse.
And yes, I am genetically predisposed to hold more weight. Whether it’s calories or water, I retain weight easier than my friends; I have since I was a wee child who was more active than the other kids due to ADHD, and ate healthy lunches.
Not only do fat people underestimate their food intake, they also overestimate their own activity levels.
In response to your snide “sure you did!” Uh, yes, I did. Being in pain all the time affects various parts of the body, for me it’s often my stomach, and how much I am able to eat. I run into bouts of time where eating is nigh impossible but I do a little of it because I don’t want to actually starve.
Maybe take my advice on treating people like actual people, instead of being a bully who goes out of their way to post nasty shit on a post about school being accessible to everyone. )
I am treating you like a person. I’m treating you like an adult who deserves the truth, rather than just what you want to hear. I’m telling you the uncomfortable truth, which you don’t want to listen to because it impacts your own desire to not be responsible for your obesity-related health problems.
Grow up before it’s too late.
Tl;DR: You’re fat because you eat too much.
