My mother had one, it was really helpful snd at the same time a mess!

We never mounted it to the wall though 🤔 so maybe that would have helped

I think you have to constantly organize it. I just mounted it to the wall, because that is, where i had the only free space. But it really helps to use up thread spools, because you can see them all at a glance.
