LPT: Lining up for multi-lane toll booths? Get in line behind the big trucks.
LPT: Lining up for multi-lane toll booths? Get in line behind the big trucks.
For example, the Datrford river crossing, to the East of London, UK.
A line of five trucks will stop for five transactions, and will most likely have passed through the toll many times before, so will have the correct money ready, or even a "fast pass" tag if any such system is available.
The same length line made up of cars will contain maybe 20 cars, which means stopping for 20 transactions. Also, while many drivers may have used the toll before, it will likely contain at least a couple who can't find their wallet in the glove compartment, have no cash, try to pay with Amazon vouchers, etc, etc.
Most people expect that generally cars will move faster than trucks and will try to avoid getting "stuck" behind them, but as a regular user of various toll booths, i always find the trucks get through faster in these cases.
