βWhen you open a book a conversation begins between the author and you, the reader. Responsibility is a weight thrown upon the writer's back, but very seldom the reader's. While an argument can be made about the role of author-reader, what can't be denied is that Honesty is at the core of this fellowship. What makes Multiply Divide a brilliant work is not only the exquisite, seamless collision of personal, prose poetry, and fiction; it is also Wendy S. Walters' decision to be brutally honest. Though at first glance Walters is figuratively naked, exposed on the page, she has actually challenged you, the reader, to be vulnerable, to be honest with yourself. Because if this, the relationship between author and reader, is to go the distance, the measure of truth must be self imposition.βΒ
