Paint it Black: Horror! Verse
Dana was born in Seattle, to her father, Peter Glass a Korean war veteran. And her mother, Ren Shimabukuro, an Okinawan refugee from the pacific theater. She grew up in the suburban victorian house that was, for the most part, her home. It was a pretty good childhood, built on rock and roll, supportive parents and a desire for exploring out of the box. She was a punk, raised on the stories of her parents during the respective wars they both lived through and as such raised her as an anti-war protestor while knowing that it’s not the soldier's fault but rather the government. She also challenged how society viewed her in education. However, she challenged herself when SHE moved in. Her name was Jean, from the east coast, she was unlike anyone Dana had met. Which is why the two became such fast friends. It was only until highschool did Dana realize that she loved Jean. Which lead to two problems. One is that it was the 80s, which could’ve led to possible rejection and societal shame. The second problem being that around high school, Dana had realized that she was definitely ace, as having no sexual interests in the physicalities that were the human bodies.
So she kept this to herself. Until Prom. She confessed her feelings and her asexuality. To Dana’s surprise, she did not reject her. But while Jean liked Dana as well, she did not know her own sexuality well enough to decide if she wished to pursue a relationship. Dana was fine with it all either way. After graduation, the two decided to rent an apartment, making ends meet, and figuring out their relationship along the way. Then one summer, they decided to apply as a summer camp counselor. At Camp Sleepaway. There occurred two things: Dana’s first kiss with Jean, along with her confession of love and then Jean’s death. Stabbed to death by ‘Angela’. The event scarred Dana and inspired her to testify in court, using her punk and love as a weapon against the one who killed her Jean.
Fast forward to college, she’s tried to keep a low profile, never giving away she was one of the camp counselors at sleepaway camp. For the most part, she studied make-up prosthetics and osteology, an odd combination to say the least. That’s where she met HIM. The blond-haired blue-eyed military brat that was John Walker. He grew up in a vastly different upbringing and had views that challenged hers. Perhaps that’s why it took so long to be friends. But after that, he started to show her things in a new light, topics that ultimately allowed her to have a more neutral, but punkish outlook on life. She started to like him not for his east coast looks, but more for his personality and his heart. Perhaps he started to like her too, for her looks and her punkish personality. But also her looks. But they never found because of two things: Her being ace and past trauma with Jean, and also the letter for John’s enlistment into the military. It went against everything her parents endured and she was scared for him. But she never told him, because he was so happy when got the letter because she knew it was his plan after college. Because it was he wanted even after the death of his brother in the Vietnam War.
Shortly after they graduated with their respective degrees, they never saw each other again.
And after that, she was alone, constantly traveling the states and everywhere else wherever movie jobs followed. Constantly moving to forget the girl and boy she loved. Constantly moving to forget the horrors of that one fateful camp.
So this is gonna be a shared universe with @multitudescontained that I’m really looking forward to writing with!! I wanted to leave this version of Dana’s biography up.
