Uhhhh anyways I wanted to try drawing Rootstar in the style of @heavensgaze so here's my attempt! And then I added a few little notes to him :)
I wanted to give him a cooler more biblical name but I couldn't think of anything besides Root, so that's what he's stuck with. He left when his clan split and then travelled for around 2 years and found GardenClan! He thinks it's pretty cool but doesn't understand the whole Heaven thing
@everclan also want to take this opportunity to say that I love your story and comic so much!! Guststar's relationship with her mom is genuinely so good and so interesting and I really really love it! I'm so excited to see where this story goes! :D

Rootkit is found on moon 3, along with the 5 kitten litter of Woolkit, Anisekit, Burnkit, Prairiekit and Shadowkit. She is brought back to MurkClan camp with them, and Sagegrass raises them all as siblings.
MurkClan at this point is newly founded, so they are very relaxed and accepting of everyone, and have no trouble taking in so many kits in one moon. Being raised by Sagegrass is actually great for Rootkit, because she is basically a licenced therapist. She helps Rootkit work through some of her trauma and nightmares, hoping that she'll be able to grow up living a relatively normal life.
And for a while, she does! She makes it up to apprentice hood, where she is apprenticed under Rowanstripe and chooses the path of the healer. At this point, Rootpaw has gotten pretty close with all her siblings, but most notably to Prairiepaw.
When the MurkClan prey shortage starts, Rootpaw starts struggling. Everyone is hungry, but this is especially bad for Rootpaw because memories of what she'd done when she was hungry resurface. Rowanstripe also reveals to her alone that he had a prophecy, and wants her help in trying to figure it out.
One night, Rootpaw notices Rowanstripe walk out into the forest. No big deal, he'll be back soon enough. But she also spots Prairiepaw trailing after him. Now this intrigues her and she decides to tail after them.
Rootpaw watches as Prairiepaw pins down and murders Rowanstripe. She's shocked to say the least. She also sees Prairiepaw breaking down as she's filled with guilt over what she's done. Rootpaw accidentlly shuffles in the bushes and Prairiepaw spots her, then begs her to help her fix things. Now, prey has been low for 3 moons already and they're both essentially starving. So, Rootpaw fixes things the only way she knows how to, in the moment, and eats at Rowanstripe until it looks like a bigger predator got to him. The sisters both clean themselves up and head back to camp.
The following moons, Prairiepaw is absolutely crushed by guilt and starts to isolate. Rootpaw, on the other hand, doesn't seem to outwardly struggle as much as she does. She's able to graduate earlier, since she can work much more efficiently with a full belly. She sees Rowanstripe at her healer ceremony, who tells her that he doesn't blame her for what she did.
After that, she's able to live a relatively normal life, though she still feels somewhat haunted by her actions. Things keep playing out pretty normally, but with each death, she can't help being reminded of what she did to Rowanstripe. She and Prairiefrost also drift apart, since Prairiefrost isnt able to stay around her after what she's done. While she may lose Prairiefrost, she's able to get closer to the others in her clan, who make sure to always be there for her when she needs it.
Anyways I worked on this for around 3-4 hours ish? Very proud of the result!! :) Also the text kept coming out slightly blurry and I have no idea how to fix it so uhhh 😭😭
