A small group of minded individuals they started from a group of cats settled in a church clan before their band broke away over a disagreement with the current leadership. They moved following Calamitystar (previously Bellablue) to a dark grotto with odd creatures and a useful garden of pools that form from the mountains melting ice. While they have a few ancestors that followed them most did not, and their main oracle died on the way.
Named both for the carrion they survived off of while breaking from their previous clan and the sounding of it (carry-on). Calamitystar chose her name for what she thought she rose from and wanted to yield, to be a controlled chaos.
After settling in an odd grotto, the new group settles down. Calamitystar pulls Murkcheep to her side and to mark their new life makes him her second star. Murkcheep is rather nervouse about his new place and shakes slightly but when he meets his loves eyes, he feels stronger. They were safe here and could be who they wanted to be, no more meeting in secret and staying far away in fear.
-Murkcheep and Siphonsnap were secretly mates in Churchclan but when the second there figured it out, they were going to be separated and shamed. But Siphon knew of the rising rebellion so as Bellablue announced her and a few other cat's intentions to leave Siphon convinced Murk they should follow after
The cats in the first ranks of Carrionclan were Bellablue (soon renamed Calamitystar), Murkcheep, Bloodeyes, Siphonsnap, Iceyfright, Muddymight, Spicebite, Thawpaw, Trillpaw, and Songpaw.
Sadly, on the journey Spicebite died giving birth to her kittens Cinnamonkit and Picklekit and Bloodeyes passed out just as they found the grotto, dying soon after from a mix of exhaustion and a heart tremor.
Moons 1-5
Siphonsnap starts collecting a stash of herbs and growing her new population of creatures, notably a swarm of leeches, tree frogs, and geckoes. With her now official partner, Siphon and Murk grow a clump of catmint the first plant of the garden.
Trillpaw starts learning how to climb trees and quickly assess enviorments from his teacher Calamitystar. While he loves to learn he is a bit creeped out by her overly aggresive nature.
Songpaw and Thawpaw butt heads a bit over their shared affection of Trillpaw but with some gentle guidance from Iceyfright they push past it and bond even more.
Muddymight teaches Songpaw how to sit and wait to teach her great patience skills.
Siphonsnap giggles as she inspires the same awe in medicine in her trainee Thawpaw. Soon teaching him how some parasites can even be used as treatments.
In a horrific event a stray starving wolf tries to grab the two orphan kittens Cinnamon and Pickle, but Murkcheep shoves them into safety. Eventually he gets it to flee with the help of Muddymight and Calamitystar but passes out from a bad wound to his neck. Sadly, his wound gets infected, and after a moon of his barely holding on to life his partner decides she can't force his spirit to stay. Siphonsnap drips a poisonous amount of mint tea into his mouth and lets him finally pass.
The grieving molly adorns her pelt with mint leaves and a catnip shoot from their clump to forever remember him.
As Siphonsnap takes a walk to clear her head after his burial ceremony, she feels a faint figure beside her as if a cat is just barley touching her head. Convinced its Murkcheep she frantically tries to strengthen the connection but as she bleeds a leech into her catmint clump the feeling is whisked away. Her connection with the dead weakens even more than it already was.
The kittens are made trainees! Cinnamonpaw is given to Calamitystar for their shared fiery passions and protectiveness, and Picklepaw is given to Muddymight for her ability to teach him well.
Trillpaw has his naming ceremony a few moonrises later in an attempt to brighten the clan's mood and is named Trillchirp for his socialble nature and a little nod to Murkcheep who he looked up to.
Thawpaw is almost named beside him, but she refuses still too grief stricken to even think of being named. But as he fumbles out a refusal her teacher comes up and licks his head. Siphonsnap says that Murkcheep would want his clan to change and cpntinue living even after his death, and that her naming would be an honor of him.
Warmed Thawpaw accepts and is finally named Thawingflower for her love of plants, caring nature and after death as a reminder of Murkcheep who he saw as his guardian.
The younger trainee Songpaw is slightly jealous of both her friends being named before her, but she uses her moon and a half of lone training to become an even better cat. On her ceremony she is named Songsplash for her ability to always come back even after the hardest falls.
On a plant gathering patrol Trillchirp asks about the dead and how Thawingflower thinks life after death is. They bond as they talk even more coming back with a bunch full of poppies and a few fluttering feelings.
After a moon of back and forth, sneaking off to talk, and laughing through the nights Thawingflower gives Trillchirp a courtship gift of poppy petals, matching preserved cathedral fig leaves, and a brilliant feather. He accepts it immediately and the two become official partners. Each wear a fig leaf and construct a nest with the feather in its moss.
