The lost heir to a kingdom

You feel like you're destined for more in life, but end up feeling everything is mundane. you escape to fantastical stories of adventure and a grand destiny. it feels all so familiar, but you know you've never had that, and may never will. you hope one day this world's facade fades away to show you something new and exciting, but prepare to continue a mundane life.

What do you seek

Freedom Everything around you dissolves and fades to a cool, white mist. After a moment you realize that you are in a cloud. You think you are falling until you realize that you are flying. You fly out of the cloud, laughing, into the wide open sky. A silvery winged being twirls out of a neighboring cloud and taps you lightly on the back. You feel a twinge and twist around to see large feathery wings sprouting out of your back. The being speaks to you in a bright, clear voice. “Nothing will hold you back now. You are free from all restriction and obligation, nothing left to tie you down. You may go as you please and do as you please and nothing and no one can stop you. A wide world of opportunities stretches before you. It is up to you to choose your own path.”

Timaeus isn’t sure what to make of it. Freedom? It just doesn’t sound right to him. Why would he seek something he already has. Or he feels free, free enough. The only freedom he sought was freedom of being what he was but nothing could or would change that. Maybe he made the wrong choices, or THEY were wrong. What good is freedom anyway with no one to share it with.

Emotions bubble. They’re wrong all wrong, this isn’t what he sought at all.

He tries again

Connection

The room around you brightens until you are bathed in soft, warm light. You can feel something like a plush rug beneath your feet. A round, gentle being takes shape in front of you and approaches, wrapping you into a soft, warm hug. You feel safe, protected, comforted, and held like you have not been held in a long time. Perhaps you have never been held like this before. As they hug you, the being starts to murmur quietly into your ear. “I see you, I understand you, and I care about you. I will not leave you. You are not alone and you will find someone who makes you feel complete. You are loved. You are wanted. You are valued. Others will see your value and love you for it.”

This time hearing something new, something that truly strikes a cord with him and hits him. Hard.

While saying he sought and wanted freedom wasn’t wrong, this was what he truly desired. To belong, To be loved.
