Steward stood in front of his bedroom window staring outside, watching the clouds roll by. The view from this same window made him decide to buy this penthouse, it gave a spectacular view over the Hudson and on a clear day he could see the planes land and take off from JFK airport.
He glanced over his shoulder when he heard the door open and he waited for Danielle to join him. “Yeah, of course, you can wait out the rain here. Might take a while though… see those dark clouds over there,” he asked, pointing in the direction of the clouds he was talking about. “Looks like a thunderstorm is heading this way.”
For a moment, Danielle remained frozen in Steward's bedroom doorway. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t been in it before. However, things were different now. Not that her feelings had changed in any way. She still cared as much as ever. Perhaps that was the problem? She missed him. Suddenly realizing she’d been lost in her own head. Danielle took a steadying breath and entered the the room. Truth be told, she had no idea what she was afraid of. It was just a little thunderstorm after all. Right? She hated phobias.
“Thank you,” she mumbled softly, feeling more and more ridiculous with each passing second. She was a grown woman who was terrified of rain? Well it was more of the lightening and roaring thunder that always managed to set her on edge.”I really do appreciate you letting me stay here,” she murmured softly, wrapping her arms protectively around herself. Wishing she was in his embrace. With a soft exhale, she mused, “I always did love this view.”
