Garlic hasn’t stopped by Greenpath in a while up until now. He’d been so occupied in Kingdom’s Edge trying to get to know a gorgeous but rude butterfly...

He shakes his head to try and focus on his exploration. That’s all fine and well, up until he sees what looks like an overgrown bug. The moth’s eyes widen, and he rushes over to gently prod their face. “Hey, uh- any chance you’re alive? Hello?” He grimaces. “Okay, come on, let’s not be dead- er, that’s not how that works but- I am really hoping I didn’t just find a body,”

Garlic: How do they fit into their “story”?

Ooh, so like.

Garlic’s story is all about self discovery. He was born to two members of the original moth tribe, and was sent off out of the kingdom with his uncles when the infection began.

He spent his years in another kingdom not too far, exploring and quite often getting into fights where he bit off more than he could chew, and chewed it anyways. He started out as a pretty irritable guy, bitter about the fact he never really got to know the kingdom he came from or his biological family before he was turned over to his uncles and sent away.

So as an adult he returns to Hallownest, wanting to learn about the kingdom and its history. And as he starts getting in touch with his past, he starts becoming a little calmer, though still fighty.

And then he finds the Colosseum, and he meets Glasswing. Something between the two clicks, and they start talking more and more. Over time Garlic gets in touch with his capabilities with dream magic, and Glasswing’s aloof attitude teaches him to mellow out, while his forwardness teaches Glasswing to metaphorically come out of their shell.

So... because the two met, they wound up being what the other needed, and they move to Dirtmouth together! And from there Glasswing joins Garlic on his travels through Hallownest, helping him uncover the truth of his origin. So.. because Garlic came to Hallownest, he learned not only his past, but who he really was and what he wanted in life.

Garlic: What do they look like?

Garlic is an Atlas moth! Excluding feelers he’s around Oro’s height. He’s dark brown with lighter neck fluff and feelers, a lighter underbelly, and he’s littered with scars from fights out in the wastes. His wings are also tattered, so he doesn’t fly too often if at all. In terms of body type he’s on the bulkier side. He sometimes wears a necklace like Markoth’s.
